This thing is great. I started out just by using the simple configuration of it - I click a button on my computer and the light turns a specific color, letting everyone outside the room know that I am in a meeting. However, I quickly discovered that this thing has a whole ecosystem of devices and applications. I ended up buying a button so that I can change the colors without having to open the special app on my computer. Then, I ended up discovering that it has an absolutely awesome API which I could write scripts for... so I did. Now its automatic - whenever my webcam is on, the script turns on the corresponding light.I like a lot of the other touches in the design, for example, the USB dongle which controls it also has an LED which indicates the current color of the main light itself. This means the light need not be within line of sign from me. I can just tell whether its on or not by having the USB dongle somewhere nearby.

I know the price is a little steep but I've loved it so far.Quickly changes color when I'm on a Webex call and returns to green as soon a call ends.My only complaint is it using Bluetooth- if my connected phone leaves the orbit then I have to manually reconnect the phone and light, i wish it would re-pair on its own.Love using the color system to let my family know when I'm busy or available and love that it can change quickly when an unexpected call creeps in.Haven't connected to anything besides Webex so can't speak on other platforms, but happy with it and meets my need.

This is the sleekest and nicest "leave me alone" device out there. Since my partner and I are both conducting startups from home, we are constantly interrupting each other and there isn't a great way to communicate that we are in the middle of a call or just in the zone to get things done. Installation was simple and the device syncs well across several communication events. You can set notifications to alert when there are certain keywords in emails, for example. There is also an integration with Zapier to connect to 1,500 more apps and we found it helps with creating more personalized notifications. Most workplace apps are on there. The device also allows for custom colors aside from the standard green/red to convey other signals.

I tried to make this thing work. I really did. I worked with my company to get it integrated, but realizing it was going to require access to my calendar in a way that wasn't secure, I settled for just a manual use of the red/green button to let my family know when I was on a call. During the summer with both my kids home, this seemed like a life saver.But it isn't. For one, the battery life of the light is short. It frequently would begin sending signals after a few days to the dongle that it was running out of power, which is an irritating flashing red.For another, the magnet came right off of it. I had to glue it back on, but there was no place to attached the light in a way that made it practical where everyone could see it high enough to make it useful.But the worst thing is that it played havoc with my Bluetooth-enabled devices. As you can imagine, it has to ping the light every so often, and plugging it in caused no end to my woes that only ended once I gave up on using it.Someone needs to buy this company and their product and integrated it into their software and hardware (I'm looking at you, Microsoft). But until then, this is what every cubicle and remote worker needs but is simply out of reach due to a variety of technical challenges. With a better battery and better connectivity, it could be amazing. But as is? This just didn't work for me.

The device itself is solidly built. The LED lighting is not as homogenous as the images depict, but it's decent enough. My qualms have to do with the limited integration options for various office software. It's very reliant on Zapier for integration (similar to IFTTT) which can work well. However, if your workplace is like mine and blocks access of these services to your work email or calendar, there are very limited options left to integrate this device with your workflow. It would be very useful if the official Luxafor app could integrate locally with email or calendar apps, or even simply detect if the webcam or microphone are in use. There are some efforts coded by enthusiast using the Luxafor API but most are buggy and/or out-of-date. I don't feel like I should have to write a new app to make a $110 LED light check my calendar events/microphone. Disappointing.
