A bit odd, yes, but they work!
These are definitely not for fashion and many people have given these bad reviews saying they feel weird or whatever but I love them.I am a professional dog walker and I ride my bike to travel to the dogs I walk. I am out in the rain and snow, riding the bike and then walking. I live in Northern New Jersey and it rains and snows here a lot!I got these because I thought I had decent rain gear but after a few heavy rain storms I ended up drenched on my bike and walks and knew I had to get some more high-tech gear. Originally I was looking for one of those rubber rain suits or gaiters that fishermen wear because I couldn't think of an alternative way to have waterproof pants while riding the bike or walking in a rain storm. When searching waterproof pants these came up. I liked that they weren't PVC or rubber and decided to give them a shot.I am so happy I did! Here's some things to know:These are not terribly cute, but they do the job. Definitely function over fashion in this case! That being said, they aren't too hideous either, they look sort of like track suit pants and aren't so stiff that upon first glance it doesn't look like your wearing weird pants or anything. The material is like those envelopes like other people have said. It is kind of funny feeling and weird at first which is to be expected if they are to be 100% waterproof. They couldn't be soft regular cloth and still be waterproof. So for them to be waterproof and as wearable as they are, is great. They are much more flexible then the PVC or rubber suits I first looked at.They can be hot because they do not breathe much but they are not too bad if you dress correctly. Because of the material, they are meant to be worn over other clothes or pants. I wear cotton leggings underneath in a cold rain and that is perfect, especially riding the bike. On a snow day, fleece pants or sweats would probably do the trick and keep you plenty warm. The wearing of other clothes underneath is nice because you can take these off at your destination and be dressed normally so I can be dry on my bike but still have normal clothes when I get where I am going. They also roll up very small and can be easily thrown into a bag. They have nice Velcro on the bottoms so you can secure them at ankles. They are a bit long but with rain boots and them velcroed, they don't drag at all. They also have an elastic band at the waist that can be tightened.I also bought the Frog Toggs jacket and a Frog Toggs pack able poncho to go with these pants to make a full rain suit.I have walked and ridden in very heavy rain and some snow this season and have been 100% dry and warm. After hours of bike riding and walking in heavy rain, I had no water soak through and I remained completely dry. These seem to be holding up great so far and have not ripped or fallen apart after a good amount of use. However, even if they only last one season, I would definitely buy these again next year as they are totally worth it. Even if I only get one season of use out of them I will feel I got my money's worth.

Cheap and not durable
DO NOT put in hot dryer. The instructions say this but the pants at the ankle simply would not drip dry even after 8 hours. I thought I would put it briefly in the dryer (15 mins) and learned this: the pants have three layers. A thin outer shell, a much thinner inner lining and a cheap plastic lining in between. If you put the pants in heat, the plastic warps and shrinks. So putting the pants in the dryer doesn’t just increase wear and tear, part of The pants melt and you can’t wear them again.I loved the fit and felt waterproofed when I first wore these pants, but they really have a limited lifespan and use. If they can’t drip dry quickly then really you can only wear them once and wait for over a day for them to dry. At some point you actually need to wash them and dry them. We have a dog so rain also means mud and sand on everything.Just spend more and buy a pair of pants that are not made of plastic.

Normal sizing and an amazing product
Update 11/23/2017: So glad I purchased these. They are so lightweight that I packed them for a hiking trip in Switzerland, just in case. I did use them there twice when we took trains from the valley to very high elevations (9K and 11+K feet) where it was cold and windy but not raining. They provided excellent wind protection and kept me warm. They pulled over my clothing easily, but I did need to take off my boots to do this. Easy enough to carry around in my day pack until needed.Last minute purchase when the weather predictions before a trip to Alaska called for lots of rain. Fit is always a concern when ordering clothing on line, but I ordered by usual size and the fit was perfect...both around the waist and the length. Didn't need to use them after all, but the price was great and they are so lightweight, I didn't mind buying/taking them and then not needing them.

Function over fashion. Function over comfort.
These are absolutely wind proof. I didn't swim in them but they kept me dry and warm while walking during a heavy snow fall. I actually got sweaty after walking back inside. They are made of natural fibers that feels like a processed cardboard. They are flexible but not comfy. If you're wearing them over jeans or leggings, you'd be set for a winter hike or camping. They are not for fashion but function. I like that they have Velcro at the ankle to tighten up the bottoms so you could tuck them into boots.I think they run a tad large but you'll need it to wear over other pants. I'm going to order another pair to keep in the car in case of a winter breakdown.

Waterproof, but not as durable as I needed.
These are handy pants, but they are only good for certain uses. They are in fact waterproof. They are an odd, papery feeling material, but after you wear them once or twice, they do soften up. To throw on occasionally when you are faced with an unexpected rain, they are probably good. I tried to use them for hiking and wear in the woods. They are not durable enough for this. I put a stick across my leg for a few short minutes to carve off the end and the pants frayed terribly in that spot. They are NOT good to wear around fires. We had a small campfire and I never saw a spark hit me, but I had a big hole melted through the leg, the first time I wore them by a fire. I have a coat too and the first time I wore that by a small campfire, I was very careful as I knew what happened to the pants. I still ended up with a hole melted in that and never saw a spark either time. So the slightest spark or heat will melt them. So these can be great rain gear for the right purpose, but they don't work for everything.
