Nice sturdy sandal with a higher than usual heel.
This Arroyo li is a nice sandal, my only complaint is it is slightly small in the toe box area, but i do have a broadfoot. My advice, go for the newport if like me you have a wide foot, the newport is an excellent sandal, i have 3 pairs. i alternate them to even the wear and tear, they are so comfortable, but i thought i would try these as they are closed back and i can fit my special orthotic footbeds in them that is the main reason. Apart from this it's a great sandal for standard size feet, so i won't mark it down for that. Just an update, after wearing for a couple of weeks they have loosened up nicely especially in the toe box area, this was my initial gripe when i first got them, i wore socks with them because they was rubbing on my small toe but this seems to have alleviated and i realise i can wear a sock with them or bare foot as i think fit. This has come in handy as they dont look out of place with socks like an open sandal, and great for winter months with jeans, so have upgraded one star to five stars.

Great walking sandal.
Great walking sandal with the closed heel you can put your own insoles in and make them great for long summer walks without your feet getting over heated thanks to the open web design.

Comfy Sandles
These have a good, firm and comfy sole much like a Vibram sole. Unfortunately, even with an insert glued to the heel they are a little too large for safe, sturdy walking - they are a bit sloppy on the feet. After I bought them I read on another site that Keen recommends buying half a size smaller, which would fit my experiences with them. They're good for everyday use as a little large and comfy. Not for serious walking unless you probably go a half size smaller.

A quality product
This is a very good quality pair of walking sandals, made with high quality materials. In my opinion, the fit is more suitable for narrow feet and, for wider feet, needs higher ankle and heel support to ensure greater stability. The Amazon 'Try Before you Buy' scheme is immensely helpful in enabling customers to make an informed decision.

Not fit for purpose
Bought these a year ago and worn them about a dozen times. On the face of it they look well made and sturdy just the job for summer hiking/trekking. However I did not find them safe to wear as the elasticated strap rear of the sandal offers no support on uneven ground. I tried to persevere with them but have now given up, as I feel I`m risking a sprain or worse, having gone over several times. They are comfortable and sturdy on flat terrain. Took them to a local cobbler who told me that he had several people in complaining of the same thing. Unfortunately nothing he could do with them.

Great trekking & general purposes sandals - especially if you use orthotic inserts !
This is my 11th pair of these shoes. I have looked to find other trekking sandals with a vertical bar element of the rear strap, which I need as I have removable orthotoc inserts, but none other has come close. So, I am happy to stick with a shoe that I can rely on. I typically keep 3 pairs on the go - 1 for using in muddy or wet use, 1 for general day-to-day wear & the newest pair for smart wear. Nuff said.

Keen are great but their sizes vary!
Loved my first pair of Keens last year but found them (the Clearwater CX) a bit thin soled for my only holiday pair of sandals making for tired feet - so bought these bulkier ones. They already feel really comfortable. BUT - oddly, I had to buy a whole half size smaller since the UK size 9 in the Newport was so much bigger than the UK size 9 in the Clearwater. And even the 8.5 leaves me with plenty of room - I could possibly have even tried the 8 but I like loose shoes. Anyway - have a look at the pics too and you’ll see how extreme this is. The Newports are the dark ones and, honestly, don’t they look slightly bigger than the light grey/yellow Clearwaters despite the label on them saying the opposite? I know sizes vary a bit between manufacturers but this is the same manufacturer and the same kind of shoe. One explanation might be that I noticed the Newports were made in Vietnam and the Clearwaters in Cambodia. Maybe the Vietnamese have bigger feet!? Anyway the main point is - do double check your size when buying Keens. They’re great sandals but their sizing is rather inconsistent.
