Uodated from Super amazing to average and than to Amazing
I changed my review back to 5 stars. After I tightened the steering wheel, the T818/sf1000 are working perfectly. So, tighten the screen until it gies completely flushed. A lot of force is needed. ___________________ Below was my 5 stars review before this update. After two weeks, it started to disconnect and act so bad. I removed the SF1000 and tight it so hard and put it back. It worked. I will wait for two more weeks. Any issues, and I will return it and this will be my last purchase of any Thrustmaster. The SF1000 and the adapter is a failure in my opinion. The company wanted to sell the T818 for those who own wheels. But all the wheels including the SF1000 are not designed for 10NM force. Bad ideas. Below is my original review. Ignore it as the facts changed. _____________ The sim market is very congested and it is obvious there is fight going on on marketshare knowing that the entire racing market size is not so large. I am aware of Thrustmaster from many previous purchases as I own their Hotas Warthong and their expensive rudder as I use them for flight simulation. Those products are built like tanks. When I am buying a DD wheel I was confused with the options available and also some negative marketing about the T818. Simply speaking below is my review after 2 days of use: 1. Reliable = %100. Not a single glitch using it continuously for hours 2. Force feedback. %100 satisfaction as for me as a strong person, I simply cannot handle any stronger wheel 3. Built quality is amazing 4. Packaging is so luxurious 5. Solid like a rock when mounted on my next level racing rig. Zero flex. The T818 with the SF1000 is amazing value for money knowing that other companies sell only the wheel at same price. I bought before the thrustmaster T-LCM which is great at 95% score. The T818+SF1000 is 99%.

It is so good that I lose my spouse for many hours now. On some days that is great on other I need him to work on project. But really, he adores the wheel as it is a substantial upgrade to his previous one as he reported the feedback is very strong and precise. So far, he was able to get it work in all the main games such as Assetto Corsa, ACC, Automobilist series, F1 series, newer Dirt and even the older and newer Forza Motorsport and I am probably missing some. The base is very solid, comes with installation bracket but with his kit he could just bolt it on. The connection is easy to make while the power supply has standard PC wire making it easier to just leave the block on your wheel stand, for example. The SF1000 paddle are a bit on the louder side but still on par with other wheels he had before. For info, ensure to update firmware first thing for both the base and the SF1000 wheel and everything worked fine. SF1000 can be tricky to update so check instruction online but essentially just plug the wheel via USB with the base disconnected is the main trick. That SF1000 has all the button covered and the screen works over Wifi to get the telemetry. If you use something like SIM dashboard you can even have it forward and then use multiple telemetry devices. The only important note as of Dec 2023 is that the Quick Release Adapter are quite hard to come by. So although one is in the kit for your SF1000, if like us you get another wheel that requires an adapter you may have to wait to find one. Unscrewing and reattaching between play session is quite hard as they need to fit snugly and you do not want to damage them in the process.

T818 is a very good DD wheel. Definitely has great FFB and pairs well with the new wheel rims that have the QR upgrade

After spending nearly $1000 on this it came with the quick release adapter broken. I contacted Amazon and all they offered was a refund since I bought it on sale. Which is stupid because it came broken and I want it but I shouldn’t have to pay $200 more than I bought it for. I then contracted thrustmaster. They weren’t helpful either. They initially told me I could just purchase the piece. Again. Stupid why should I have to buy the broken piece when it arrived that way. They then had me send a video of it and they claimed it works be viewing that. But it is broken. It doesn’t clamp down completely like it’s supposed to. So it will eventually wear out a lot sooner. I would have thought by paying this much for an item they would help you out better when things arrive broken. Very dissatisfied with them and Amazon for not helping remedy this situation.

Coming from a TS-XW Thrustmaster setup and hearing about everyone complaining about potential flex of the new wheel adapter neck connector and other negative babbles. I wanted to give this a shot before I decided to go Fantec and sell my whole Thrustmaster system. *update Sept 2024: Still working strong with drivehub and I have upgraded the T-LCM pedals to Simsonn pedals. Which Drivehub does not support. However I bought the Simjack controller box for Drivehub support and the new pedals work great not only on the PC but with console support again! *Update March 2024: As of March 2024, Drivehub latest beta firmware allows the T818 to currently work with PS5 and Xbox Series X (along with TSS Handbrake and TH8A shifter) So I bought this from Amazon Warehouse deals... (oh man what a crappy experience but I'll get into that later) First I tried my existing Thrustmaster gear T-LCM, a bunch of open wheels, the TSS handbrake, TH8A gear shifter. I went to try it on my PC and it works great and its so nice that this direct drive wheel base is whisper quiet unlike the TS-XW belt driven base. When the T818 hit the left or right maximums, it didnt not CLUNK like the TS-XW and had a little give and a bump. Driving on Forza Horizon 5 I ran a couple tests to see how responsive the feedback was when driving. -I turned off my Simhub that drives my bass shakers so that I could feel what the direct drive wheel was returning in terms of the feedback response and it feel really good, as I could feel details I could not with the TS-XW. With Simhub running on my PC I could channel a plethora of feedback responses to my bass shakers on my rig, such as shakes under the pedals, under my seat etc. But I would not feel that in the wheel like I could for the T818. Summarizing this I felt alot more details in the wheel of this T818... loving it so far. I turned up feedback sensitivity and some torque settings and ya wow this wheel can really crank it hard and tough. One thing did not notice is any flexibility nor any impact to the wheel connector to the base when playing. Of course if the machine is off and i start leaning down on it yes I can feel it flex but in game.. it was inconsequential to me if it did flex or not. So far I'm pretty happy with the performance. So next test T818 to see if it could work with my Xbox series X and PS5 with T-LCM pedals, TSS handbrake and TH8A and of course using the Drivehub box which allows me to use my older Thrustmaster TS-XW base on my PS5 playing Gran Turismo 7. So testing on the XBOX first I connected to the Drivehub the T818 base, the T-LCM to the T818, and TSS handbrake and TH8A both USB going into a USB 3.0 hub which then gets connected to the Drivehub. And finally connecting an Xbox controller into the drivehub which is the final trick to have this T818 be recognized as an Xbox controller. So it worked great with the latest beta firmware as of Feb 22, 2024! Next was testing GT7 on the PS5 - I had just updated my firmware on my PS5 today as well and pretty much same setup using the drivehub except you'll want to plug in PS4 compatible third party gamepad (you'll have to look this up yourself on the Internet for compatible controllers). Everything worked great with the T818 on GT7 PS5! My Amazon warehouse experience which is the worst part of this. So this is used from Amazon warehouse which sometimes is a good experience and sometimes not. In my case I got one that was shutting down after 15 minutes of play and I noticed that the T818 base serial number doesn't even match with the box! Amazon warehouse resell certification missed this. And it was defective. For the people who do these Switch-R-Roos returns, you suck! Update March 2024: If you have a disconnect issue there are some that have this issue. It seems the USB-C cable highly likely be the culprit and that has been discussed in the forums. You can try another USB-C to USB-A cable to fix this. Overall for the T818, I give it a 4/5 stars for performance! and 1/5 stars for the Amazon warehouse experience! Update additional notes: With the T818 bundle with SF1000 and desktop clamp. You can use the desktop mount + clamp without the clamps and it acts like a mount that you can use on your sim rig or in my case I just had to drill 2 holes in my GT Omega Apex. Installs nicely! One thing I really love about the T818, is that the steering reaction is responsive! I'm talking about when you oversteer and when the wheel kicks back and starts spinning the opposite direction its so smooth that you can actually recover when you oversteer into a corner. Unlike the TS-XW and other non direct drive wheel bases where it was extremely difficult to recover. It used to be players with hand controllers would be way better than novice wheel system users. With this level of smooth response in the wheel base, the advantage now returns to the wheel driver! Super happy with this.
