This boom pole mounting adapter is really sturdy. It has a tough build, which makes grabbing the pole on one end and the tripod pole on the other hand a snap. I wish it was a little less heavy, but regardless, it feels right to have something so well built to handle the heavy pole and microphone so nicely.Keep in mind you have to lift up and support the pole a bit when trying to adjust the angle, otherwise, when you turn the knob(s) loose, the pole may fall down.

This mount kit exceed my expectations. I have one tripod which is a boom arm tripod, and a few other tripods I use for lighting. This boom pole mounting kit let's me use a regular lighting tripod with my monopod to create a boom arm on the go! What's more, is that this tilt/mount mechanism is significantly stronger and more durable than my dedicated boom arm tripod, which has some plastic pieces to it.Would definitely recommend using some sand bags on your tripod while in use.While the product page didn't make it abundantly really clear, this mounts perfectly to the silver end that normally comes standard on any larger tripod for lighting, flash, etc... (see picture) It mounts very firmly.Video attached to help show how this unit works.I think the only thing that was a little bit of a mess, was the main screw/bolt which tightens to the tripod has power coat finish, and the paint and some metal shavings make a mess for your fingers for the first couple uses. After cleaning it off, it is smooth operation though. Very minor.Really like this unit. Easy to keep in the bag with my tripods. Always ready to boom!

Overall this is a very sturdy and all metal mount. Save $100 and not buying a dedicated mic stand is a good plus. Use your monopod or boom pole on an existing light stand, just make sure you sandbag the boom pole and stand.The only odd thing is the cast they used for the metal. The exterior has wrinkles and initially I thought there was a cheap plastic coating on the metal, but no, it's all metal...that appears to have some wrinkles on it, like they made the cast and had a plastic bag inside that had it's wrinkles appear in the cast at the factory. It does not interfere with anything functioning however...but just looks odd.
