This carving is a beautiful rendition of mother and child. It does not have to be religious. It does seem to be a classic Mary holding baby Jesus. The wood is soft and smooth olive wood. There are many meanings of the olive tree. It is a symbol of friendship and reconciliation, cleansing and healing, light, victory and richness and, above all, a sign of peace. The little carved statue seems to embody all of these elements and brings a rich feeling of joy when held. Highly recommended.

Nice gift

This is a beautiful, gorgeous nativity scene. The wood is actual wood and isn't just painted or a veneer. Great as a gift or an addition to your own decor.

When I first got this product I was a little unimpressed by the packaging. It was just a basic package and some ripped up newspaper inside. But then, I pulled out the inserted card where it explained to me that it was a fair trade item from Bethlehem. How I missed that in the beginning is beyond me because I love homemade fair trade items that help out other countries. I usually find the quality of these items is very nice and this Olive Wood Christian Statue is amazing. It is also much larger than I was expecting and is actually true to size as soon in product photo.It is clearly hand carved and made out of wood. It is really a beautiful piece. I don’t always take photos of products I receive for review but the quality of this product was worthy of sharing what it looks like in person. You will not regret this purchase.10/10 would get again and recommend.
