A solid lever drag real for the price. Great fish fighting power, can real almost effortlessly even under extreme load. Drag says 33lb I believe, I put it to the test. When cranked down fully the fish could still outpull the Drag, but to be fair this black drum was a fish for a larger size reel to fight. Only con per say is... the lever drag takes some time to set where you like it, and isn't always consistent in resistance. But if you're willing to play around and figure out what the reel likes to be happy, it's overall well worth the money.

My favorite shark and big redfish/black drum reel! This thing is smooth, has a great drag, and has some serious ability. I have handled sharks up to 350# with this thing and it did not break a sweat.

After more than 2 years of use, i serviced this reel. All the components inside seems holding pretty strong, no corrosion found. Easy to service and after service reel like a new one again. Very satisfied with what I paid for.

The reel is the TR100 modified to a lever drag configuration utilizing the TR100 drag. I was hoping for the larger drag typically associated with a lever drag reel. That being said it is a great reel that I expect to last almost 20 years like the standard TR100s I own.

These are great reels for the price point. Perfect for saltwater salmon and bottom fishing. The large handle allows you to keep up with a fish that is running towards you which is when a salmon is likely to spit the hook. The drag is easily adjustable while fighting a large fish and unlike a star drag is easy to get at when you need to. The reel also has the backbone to reel in big Lings from the bottom.

We use these for salmon and an "incidental halibut" on a regular bases on 3 bottom tracker down riggers. They are easy to use and perform well with 25# "one shot" mono.

This reel is superb wish I bought it ten years ago, will go with any boat road and really really well made, top work.

I purchased my first Shimano Charter Special almost 20-years ago now, and it still functions like new. The same toggle used to free spool the cylinder in order to let out line, serves as the drag. Control over every fish regardless of size is right at your thumb. No star drag to distract when playing big fish. I have had zero problems with these reels. I normally refrain from using caps, but there is a need to reinforce, "WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!! "

Acquistato in offerta, ho preso un mulinello che costa quasi il doppio. Ottima soluzione con la leva per regolare la frizione (ho dovuto stringere il regolatore di base per avere una maggiore ferrata appena attaccano), rimane più agevole in confronto alle versioni a stella, uno dei rari shimano rotanti con il guidafilo

Ottimo prodotto per chi si avvicina al mondo della traina, ma comunque super anche per esperti per la comodità.

This is my third Charter Special reel. I bought the first pair in the 90's and they are still going strong. I have used them for everything from fishing the Great Lakes and small inland lakes to the Pacific Ocean in the quest for trophy salmon and trout. They are absolutely bulletproof and worth every penny plus I paid less for this reel on Amazon than I did 25 years ago in a store.
