Great outdoor plug, does the job.

I have had an outside plug for years, they come in very useful. My old one is a single socket version I bought 20 years ago and it's time to change it. This is a perfect replacement and a big improvement from my old one.There is everything needed to fit this apart from the drill and screwdrivers although one of those is included too! The instructions are easy to follow but if you are not competent with electrics it would be wise to employ an electrician for the install. The unit is sturdy and well made with an ip66 rating so rain shouldn't be a problem. The catch is easy to open and locks closed even with devices plugged in.This outdoor socket is very good value and should last me at least another twenty years.

At first looks seems a quality product but is low quality.To start with i have fitted may of these to my outside garden and garage plus others for relatives and friends, this upon opening looks to be a good quality external socket, however becomes apparent that it is individual pieces sort of thrown together with a case.All the ones i have fitted have been one piece front and back enclosures, opening the front cover and taking the facia apart shows that the main faceplate is not a standard UK faceplate but rather an multifunction plate for different facial install applications, this has been given a plastic thin plastic surround then thrown in a outdoor faceplate, the main plug faceplate has 2 brass earthing connectors for the earthing of screws when fitted to homes but these are just lose with no earthing contact made to the steel retaining frame in the unit.The plastic used for the back plate and the cover is also of a lot lower quality than i have previously seen in the units i have installed, this type of i outdoor plug that generally sticks out should be constructed of thicker plastic to survive winter conditions and also every day knocks form people things in the outdoor environment.The only saving grace is that this comes with a set of 2 wire glans, and a cheap electrical contact tester screwdriver that should never be trusted.DUe to the amount of these i have fitted i know what a quality reliable one should look and feel like so this is a 2 star product as it is cheaper than some i have seen but would advise on spending a bit more with proven reviews, especially if it is going to be out in the rain & cold weather.
