Perfect fit for Breville Barista Express
I have the "Impress" version of the Barista Express and this is a perfect fit.Well packaged, nicely made and comes with a filter basket.. The stock Breville filter basket however fits this portafilter better and si this is what i now use..With paper filters (from Good Brothers) at the base and on top of the puck, the flow through this portafilter tells the story, and clean up is easy.. The filter on top of the coffee keeps the group head clean shot after shot.More than I wanted to spend, but price was forgotten after the first good shot. Recommended

Very disappointing drop in quality
I originally bought the 54 mm Sandwalwood version of this bottomless portafilter in July 2022. I was very impressed with the quality and aesthetics, so naturally when I decided to upgrade to an espresso machine with a 58 mm portafilter (Breville Dual Boiler), I decided to buy the 58 mm Sandalwood bottomless portafilter. Immediately upon opening the package for this product, I was struck with the exceptional drop in quality. The handle felt much more like plastic than Sandalwood and was much less substantial than my older portafilter. The connecting piece had been changed from metal on my old portafilter to plastic on this one. The quality of the metal and crema logo looked much cheaper as well. Finally, the handle had multiple nicks/imperfections straight out of the box.All of this made me decide to instantly return this product. I'm very disappointed in the drop in quality from when I purchased my original Crema portafilter in 2022 to now. I will be buying a different brand moving forward.

Nice looking but not sure it really changes anything
I do like this, the olive wood handle in particular is gorgeous. That said, I am puzzled by the people that seem to think this makes the coffee taste any different. If you look at the basket, it is exactly the same as the one that came with the Breville machine, the only difference is the Breviille one has the splitter/spout. I doubt very much that makes a difference is how the extraction since it doesn't contribute at all to back pressure. When first used it toes tend to spray all over, but that gets better with use. I know there are reviews saying that's due to poor grind, tamping, etc but I am skeptical. The spraying comes from only a one or two of the tiny holes in the basket, and I suspect it has more to do with how they are made. If it were poor grind, tamp, etc it would be more general. I use the pressure gauge on the Breville to dial in my grind, dose, and tamp, and I think that's a pretty reliable indication - and it also corresponds to the flavors I get from the extracted coffee...

Excellent quality and fit
I tried this and several others off of Amazon, including normcore brand, and this one was the only one that inserted and turned in the group head smoothly on a Breville Bambino Plus.

Best companion for Breville Barista Express (or any 54 mm espresso machine)
People buy the Breville Barista Express because they want to make espresso at home. Not just that, though. They want control over the process. The grinder, the pressure gauge, the programming and timing features, and even unpressurized portafilter baskets. There’s one problem, though. After all the tweaks, adjustments, and changes to get it dialed in for a new or different bean, you can’t see the extraction process. This bottomless portafilter fixes that issue. Being able to see the extraction gives you insight into the grind, the tamp, the pressure, and more. It’s been a valuable purchase to accompany my BES870XL. It’s a high quality piece with a good weight and durability. The wood handle is long enough to get good leverage when inserting and removing. The nature of the naked portafilter allows for easier, faster, and more thorough cleaning and resetting between shots. Finally, and most importantly, pulling shots just looks cooler when you can watch the coffee flow from the bottom of the basket :)I highly recommend owners of a 54 mm brew head espresso machine purchase this from Crema Coffee Products.
