Dish Wally HD Receiver with 54.0 Voice Remote

Received this unit 2 days before initial delivery window. Hooked it up to a new-to-me Winegard Playmaker, and the TV in our camper. The unit powered up, paired with the provided remote, and booted the Playmaker up. I chose my state from the drop-down, and within a few minutes the Playmaker had locked onto the 119, 110, and 129 satellites. Once the 'call for activation' message popped up on screen, I called the number and got a pleasant and helpful stateside rep who added this receiver to my existing account in about 10 minutes (including hold time). 5 minutes later I had all of my channels. I had a bit of reservation about this purchase based on some of the reviews about it (1) being a refurb and (2) Dish not wanting to activate it due to being linked to an existing account. I encounted NEITHER of these issues. The activation went perfectly, and I saw nothing on the Wally packaging that lead me to believe it was a refurbished unit. I'm looking forward to having this option in our camper, and the entire process couldn't have gone smoother.

Easy set up. Just took a few minutes with Dish as we are already a customer. Love it. Now we can both watch our shows on the road.

A bit of an upgrade over the VIP211k. The nice feature is the dual tuners so you can record one show and watch another. Still getting used to the new interface but it's fairly intuitive. It's smaller which helps with limited space in an RV. We have this on a Winegard Traveler so we have 3 Wally receivers and all three can watch different channels on different satellites at the same time. More reliable than the Hopper. Had nothing but issues with the Hopper. Only thing that would improve this is a built in hard drive for the DVR. Attached an external drive and works well.

Good value. This is the newer model Wall-E it comes with the new remote that you can talk to and it lights up. I attached an external USB drive for program storage which works very well. You can also plug in a USB wireless network adapter. The unit does 1080 P resolution HD. This Wally responds to changing channels very quickly. It is also very light weight.

First off, if you're buying this, then you have chosen Dish Network. That's your first mistake. Who designs something that takes HALF AN HOUR to startup, every time you want to use it. It's like they purposely designed their system to require download of a completely new operating system EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU UTURN IT ON. Don't get me started on Intellian, the auto-tracking antenna manufacturer. I'm leaving them some nice comments on their $2500 junk too. As for THIS particular purchse: After spending over 2 hours on the phone with DISH, watching this receiver reboot over and over and over (and over), 20 minutes each time... I had had enough. If if weren't bolted to the wall, I would have thrown it in the river.

Purchased for use with my King Satellite Dish. Works perfectly. Fast connection to satellite and easy Hopper setup. Card is included, just call dish or direct tv to set up service. Be advised, if you want internet it does not have built in connection you have to have a WiFi router to connect and receive internet.
