Tried and true, trusted tool to accurately test your freeze protection of your car's coolant. I have been using a Thexton coolant tester as long as I can remember and they have never let me down. Great quality and easy-to-read graduations on the tool. I bought this one to replace my 20+ year old coolant tester that the suction bulb finally wore out on. The reasons I gave it 4 stars is that the suction bulb is not as heavy-duty as the one on my old tester and the discs are smaller and don't seem to slide as smoothly as my old tester. Don't get me wrong, it still works great but I feel it could be more like the older one, which seemed to be better quality and also larger, allowing you to draw more coolant into the tester.

I live in the Chicago area where temperatures can get very cold. I am very careful to maintain my vehicles in top condition so they will be ready when I need to use them . One of my biggest concerns is the protection level of my antifreeze, both in the winter and the summer. I had used this type of tester for years and had found it to be very accurate and very easy to read. I recently needed but could not find my tester, and with the recent forecast of below zero weather - actual temperature not just wind chill, I immediately ordered the identical tester that I had used for years. It arrived one day after I had placed the order. I would definitely order from the seller again.

The tube is not securely attached at the bottom. The top bulb leaks air and bubbles constantly go through the tube so you can’t get a good reading. Also even if it did work as intended, it’s not that accurate. Avoid.
