Bought this to help teach my granddaughter to sew and she really got in to it. She loves her little purses.

My daughter is into anything crafts, especially when she gets to create something that can be used. It did take her a few minutes to get the hang of it on her first attempt, but halfway through the first small bag, she was confident. She did require a little bit of help throughout the process, but just simple things like I had to line it up for her and tie the knot in the beginning and the end. Overall, I think this is a great kit for young children to get into sewing, it greatly simplifies it and comes with everything they need and the results are so cute. She even gave me the first one that she made which I now use a coin purse. I think five is probably the youngest age that can get into this, it may still be too difficult for children any younger. Overall, we are super happy with this kid and I would recommend any little one wanting to get into sewing.

i ordered this 'beginner sewing kit for kids - create your own purses' and wow! we love it!i used this kit with my 6 year old, and we both really enjoyed sewing the purses!PROS:- 6 INDIVIDUAL 'kits' included. each has the pieces you need, a plastic sewing needle, yarn, and the instructions for that particular purse.- instructions were in clear and plain english, with pictures included and were step-by-step. they were easy to follow (a younger child MAY need some help reading/following them)- CUTE purses. they are more like 'coin purse' size, but for a child, they are extremely cute. my daughter put stuff for her barbies in them, which makes these the perfect size.- 6 'kits'/purses makes this a really great value, considering you get everything you need to complete each one.- some require velcro, which is included, and listen...i don't know where they got this stuff from, but it is STRONG. be careful when opening the purse to ensure that the velcro doesn't un-stick from the felt.- SCREEN FREE fun while teaching kids the important life skill of sewing.CONS:- not exactly a con, but because this is for kids/beginners, i only wish that the yarn they included with each purse was a bit longer. kids sometimes make mistakes or knots can be put into yarn accidently. i wish they included just a bit more length in case these things happen.- i do wish the instuctions included things like threading the needle and tying off the thread, which most beginners would need help with. keep that in mind if gifting - make sure someone would be able to help the child do that.OVERALL IMPRESSION: really great beginner sewing kit for kids, with detailed instructions and everything you need to make 6 cute purses!RECOMMEND?: yes! i would recommend this kit and i would not hesitate to buy it again! we had a really nice time making these.

I got this kit for my 8 year old who likes to sew. First of all, the instructions aren’t very good at all if a child is sewing by themselves. It’s much better with an adult helping but even I got a little confused. It is nice that each purse comes in its own bag. They are stingy on the string too for a beginner’s kit. There are definitely better beginner’s sewing kits out there.

This is a very nice little kit. You get 6 "purses" (in reality most are more wallet or coin-purse than a purse), complete with everything you need to make them. The designs are all cute. I have a very picky child when it comes to fashion statements, and this set has no misses.What set this kit apart for me was the instructions. I've paid less before (sometimes half this price), but the presentation of this set makes it worth the extra money. The whole kit comes in a giftable box, not a random plastic bag. Inside, each unit is individually packaged, complete with the detailed instruction sheet for that set. The instructions are in clear, easily understood English, with accompanying images of the exact item you're working on, and they hit every step along the way on that bag. I've never seen anything so well done. The closest would have to be an M&D learn to sew she got as a toddler, but that was 1 item to be sewn for the same price as these 6.I love that each purse is a complete unit in itself, so you can use these for a class or even a kids party and they can take the set home to finish without you needing to be there to help. I've taught elementary craft classes in the past and learned the hard way that my students' parents don't necessarily know how to do these things, even if they seem like child's play to me, so you can't always trust that a child who takes a project home will have available help. This structure makes that so much easier. These are also complete unto themselves. Unlike other brands who include extra things like gems that needed glued on, everything in this kit can be assembled with only the tools included in this kit. I wish I'd had them the last time I taught first-grade fashion design, and I will absolutely be recommending them the next time someone asks me where their daughter should start.
