I really like this little board I think the strength of the magnets is about right. You can pick up the board from one end in a controlled manner and none of the pieces will move. Have only had it for a short time but the quality seems high. The first board we received had a broken snap, but the seller sent a replacement (which was in perfect condition) very quickly. If you love chess and want to play while travelling, this is a great set for you.

Gift-ability, nice compact travel size and looks good

The media could not be loaded.  I bought this for backgammon. I hesitated because a few reviews said the checkers magnets weren't very strong. I totally disagree. If you see the video I posted, the checkers stay in place unless you shake it. If the magnets were any stronger, the pieces would attach to each other when they get too close together. I noticed this when playing, so I wouldn't want them any stronger or the game would be tough to play. I feel they got it just right. It would be nice if the board laid flat, but it has not been a problem since the checkers are magnetic. I haven't tried chess, but all the other reviews say those magnets are strong and probably not a problem with pieces stacking themselves together if too close. Also, the dice are really nice. I would buy this again.

Product was packaged missing 4 white pawns. Who does that? Quality control non-existent.

The description made it seem like this had strong magnets. They do seem to hold on at a slight angle but they aren’t strong at all and a small nudge sends the pieces flying.

I have purchased about 4 of these sets for family and myself. This makes a great gift for introverts and also people that have never played a board game. So good!

I've taken this game on week long backpacking trips, and cross country camping vacations. It's easy to set up, fun to play, and stores away in a very compact size. We love it!
