A bit pricey but you won't regret it. Review: Bryan Litz is DA MAN - If you are unfamiliar with Bryan then be advised he is the Head Ballistician for Berger Bullets. Having read his first book on Applied Ballistics when I learned of this second book it was on my wishlist in a flash. I postponed buying it for a couple of months due to the sticker shock of the price but when I had a few extra bucks I bought it. Like his other work Bryan boils down "rocket science" to a form any reasonably literate person can understand. If you shoot beyond 200 yds. in your practice of as a hunter then this is a must read for you. The analyses of hit percentages and the variables that affect accuracy over distance are most inspirational and informative. Stuff you never even suspected is revealed in its critical role for long range shooting. He even goes through the ballistic merits of various calibers and which bullets have to best chance of superior performance at long distance. He makes comparisons of the 300 Win. Mag. against the 338 Lapua Mag. that are profoundly important if you are considering which caliber will best suit your needs. This is a serious work worthy of your attention if you are interested in long range shooting or are a competitor at long range matches.

Bryan Litz is DA MAN

Makes incredibly complex info easy to understand!
If you are looking for a book to help you understand ballistics and how to be a better long range shooter: THIS IS IT! No matter what your skill level is, you will be better after you read this book! Litz goes into the theory behind the concepts, supports it with his computer models so you understand. Then to top it off, it's filled with practical-real world things you can do to improve your accuracy and precision...for long range shooting! This is single handedly the best/most informative book I've ever read on the subject. Definitely a must read for any serious shooter!

The book brings a higher level of thinking to long range shooting.
I now have the full collection of books by Bryan Litz. He has the knowledge and experience to write very informative books that includes the physics and math used to advance a shooters ability to shoot long range. As a engineer, I enjoy learning as much as I can to improve my shooting. It takes effort to improve and the book brings in variables that most shooters don't think of. Good book.

Accuracy First!
Accuracy First! Bryan Litz has put his military background and Aerospace Engineering degree to great use with the publication of "Accuracy and Precision for Long Range Shooting: A Practical Guide for Riflemen." I have read a ton of marksmanship books and have delved into my share of books on ballistics to understand the theory behind accuracy and precision. However, this book has lifted the shroud of mystery behind the subject and has clarified at least to me a lot of the errors I have picked up over the years. The intent of this book as stated in the introduction "is to explore the uncertainties and inaccuracies of real world shooting so riflemen can make well informed decisions about how to improve their hit percentage". This is done by looking at the fundamentals of precision and accuracy, then supporting the facts in weapon employment zone analysis. All I can say is if Todd Hodnett of Accuracy 1st, one of the most respected and sought after instructors in the entire world recommends this book you know it has to be good! Overall, this book is must own for any professional shooter, no matter if you are military, police or recreational shooter. CONTENTS: -Introduction Part 1: Precision 1. Overview of methodology 2. Example WEZ calculation 3. Wind uncertainty 4. Range uncertainty 5. Inherent precision 6. Muzzle velocity effects Part 2: Accuracy 7. Accurate shooting basics 8. Leveling your sights 9. Trajectory modeling 10. Secondary trajectory effects 11. Calibrating ballistic solutions 12. Live fire verification Part 3: Weapon Employment Zone Analysis 13. 300 Winchester Magnum 14. 300 Win Mag vs. 338 Lapua Mag 15. Score shooting 16. Wind sensor array 17. Varmint hunting 18. Medium and big game hunting 19. Military and tactical shooting -References -Appendix: Bullet BC tablets (Hardcover, 6.5" x 9", highly illustrated, 300 pages)

Understanding the long range bullet path
This book is written so that a normal person ( no aero-engineering background) can understand the subject matter. It actually is fun to read and makes perfect sense to me. It does help give a better understanding of all the variables that go into making that shot at 1000 yards. A must read for anyone getting into long range shooting at targets or big game hunting.

Worth the price!
Been shooting LR for 3 years- loving it. Have been with some of the best shooters anywhere and sometimes its difficult to get "clean" answers from these guys! What I mean is- they are all good shooters but tend to have "their" way of doing things- sometimes when you ask a question of these guys you get 3 or 4 strong opinions that may be somewhat conflictual! It's conflictual because it varies depending on their experience and understanding of Ballistics. This leaves guys like me- very lineal and clinical laughing and scratching my head! This book sends thousands of bullets down range- in computer sims- and the models appear to me to be dead on!! It simply puts into words what many of the finest shooters can not verbalize. They can show you- but this book speaks it.
