The 14 year old volume button has been glitching for a while so I figured I would but this cheap remote to cannibalize and use for parts to repair my original remote. I put batteries in this one just to test it and much to my surprise everything worked instantly. Volume, source, menu, everything just worked. I didn't need to program anything. At first glance the remotes look identical, but on closer inspection, this one is slightly smaller, but not much. The battery lid is a bit smaller and rattles if you shake it. A small peice if tape inside fixed that. Overall, this is a great purchase especially for the price.

Bought this because it generally had good reviews, was half the price of the Yamaha one, and arrived faster. BUT, the volume up control doesn't work, and I see this is a frequent occurrence based on other reviews. I didn't test the other buttons, because the volume control not working alone is a game buster. I have since bought the official Yamaha replacement and it works great. On the plus side, the return process was super easy.

Bought this when the original controller started eating batteries like crazy. It looks close enough to the original as to not cause confusion among the other remote controllers. Functionality is identical.

Volume up down buttons failed on original Yamaha remote not long after I bought the RXV 377 Reciever. So this replacement looked like a great replacement, but first one I ordered had the exact same volume button problem right out of the box, plus a few other important buttons failed. Don't they test these things? I returned that first replacement and ordered another one, this time volume down button works but you really have to fiddle with volume up to get the volume up, plus a few other buttons require fiddling to barely work. Looks as if the replacement has same or worse defects as the original Yamaha one. I'm putting up with it, thinking of giving them a third strike chance if somehow they can just test one before just sending it out! UPDATE 5/5/24: 3RD REPLACEMENT SENT TO ME, ALL BUTTONS WORK FINE, NOW I'M FINALLY HAPPY WITH PRODUCT, UP GRADED MY RATING FROM 2 TO 4 STARS, DUE TO HASSLE WITH 2 PREVIOUS DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENTS.
