The latest in long term food storage is designed to heat seal like other mylar bags but this one can be opened again and reused. Our bag has aluminum foil as a layer rather than mylar. Mylar is sprayed on to plastic where foil is and actual metal layer between Nylon and LDPE plastic. Bag has conventional zipper and a dense plastic slide lock clamp that secures bag rather than heat sealing. You can heat seal if you prefer. Us this bag with oxygen absorbers (not provided) for long term food storage. Used in the medical field to transport specimens.
