I was under the impression that the glasses required the glow sticks, but they don't! Each pair contains built in batteries that will last for at least an evening with constant use. The glow sticks work well and all seem to be fresh, no duds that I've found. We only needed a few for it party, so I'm excited to bring the rest out for the holidays or new years. The kids love them!
