Definitely an excellent reference book
I have my own copy (previous one). Bought this for my daughter who started to sew and create her own patterns. She needed to know how to sew the designs she created. She has little sewing experience. In the few weeks she has had the book she has used it extensively. Sewing an invisible zip. Lining a woolen jacket (it loos professional) and other guidelines and tips that makes your garment look professional. I am proud of her sewing skills now. Definitely an excellent reference book. My book is much used.

Magnifico libro para aprender técnicas de costura
Es un libro completísimo, tanto para interpretar los patrones de la marca, como para aprender técnicas muy útiles. Viene con esquemas y explicaciones paso a paso.

Good Basic Information
I understand to many this book would be too basic, hence my four rating, but if one is new or as rusty as I was after all these years, this has proven to be a helpful reference which hasn't been overwhelming and I am very happy with it. Much later on, I would explore more complicated books as I get up to speed again, but for now, it has helped me out more than a few times.

Sewing techniques in one book.
The book arrived today. Already looked through it. Almost every sewing technique is illustrated and thoughtfully worded. No more notes, a pattern with a technique i need or a video when i hack a pattern.

Finally a sewing book about making clothes! Not interior design and craft stuff! =)
Finally! I have gone through several sewing books over the years and have encountered the same problems over and over. Either the book is far too rudimentary (showing me how to attach a button) or the subject matter centers around interior design and crafting. Finally, this is book that is about making clothes and all the little methods that come up in so many commercial patterns. For example, making various types of pockets, or showing how to line a jacket with a back vent. It's been a lot of help =)

good book but I personally bought the wrong book
This is basic sewing and I thought it was about fabrics and other things. It is a very good basic sewing book and for a go to for sewing if you want to make w/o a pattern I referenced it to try to knock of a design I saw on TV. It covers interfacing and different aspects of a garment.

Good for the basics
I consider myself intermediate seamstress...some of the stuff is good but this is a beginners book. In parts, it can lead you to a more difficult way of doing things than is needed...a bit outdated. Skip it if you are at the point where you don't really need the instructions of a pattern to put an item together. Very beginner oriented.

Helpful Guide bought on Amazon
I looked around quite a bit for a helpful book to help me remember how to make bound button holes; this is the one! The book has several helpful hints about sewing that I had forgotten over the many years. I sewed for my children when they were small and loved the results; now I have grandchildren and I wanted to make sun dresses. This book was the answer for a lot of my questions.

Sewing guide
Bought this for my daughter but was disappointed that so much was omitted compared with my original edition. Still, a practical guide and helpful.

A dip in and out book
This is good alongside the follow up vogue book as you can dip in and out of both for the easiest techniques
