But buy some spare belts as they need regular replacement (Mine only lasted 8 weeks before snapping).Basically the main reason this model gets so many negative reviews is because you are paying a premium price for the once famous "Hover branding" that was once synonymous with vacuum cleaners before the likes of "Dyson" came along. Nowadays the Licence to produce genuine "Hoover branded" vacuums has been sold to Chinese company who appear not too concerned with quality.? This is a compact and Basic "Entry-level"/ "No Frills" model "Hoover".That has a very quiet motor and very powerful suction. I purchased mine as a "Refurbished" unit from "A.P.Taylor"/"Direct vacuums.co.uk and saved approx. 50% off the "High St. Catalogue" asking price.,Pros;Excellent value for money (?If purchased as a "Refurbished" unit?) Although about £20 over priced if bought on the High St.? at RRP.?;Very quiet Motor;Powerful Suction;Cons;Basic Features;No Height adjustment;No extension-Tubes;Cable length slightly on the short-side;Very weak Drive-Belt that easily snaps if pushed too hard

Not worth the money.
This item is alright for thin carpet mats.No good for deep carpets as there is no adjustment for the roller brush.That's why I could only give it 3 stars.

Let's make this clear.
Okay, let's make this clear. This is a really good hoover for the price. But because it's under 50 squid it is made a little on the cheap side and that is where some of these reviewers are gong wrong. It won't take a lot of stick. It's just not built for thick carpets or pet hairs or carrying up n down the stairs. You'll need to spend more dosh for one that does all that. This I just a good value hoover that performs fantastically well around the house but you need to remember it's limits.
