Heavy duty and appears to be highly polished SS. The design is effective with the ball bearing as a pivot point; the ball should be slightly larger to actually separate the plates away from the slight contact made with the current ball & separation. . Installation is easy for an average DIYer. Manufacturing could be better, but didn’t and probably with timeframe, not creat a problem(?). The holes are punched, which very slightly deformed the plates creating contact* - still no movement interference so rotation is ok. The posts are force flanged into the plates. This process fractured*the flange in places completely around the area where the flange is forced against the post hole in the plate. The posts are tight and appear to be securely in place . Only time and weigh other than destructive testing will tell if the process is or is not an issue. I feel all is good and will hold with household use . * (Photo shows defects via two plates at 90° one to act as a straight edge to show plate deflection ;Also fractured and broken flange)

EASY TO INSTALL AND QUALITY

I live in an old house that at one time had double french doors leading in from the foyer. But the door was not framed in a way where I could install a replacement with hinges on the side without a lot of carpentry work. I did see screw holes at the top of the frame and was thus able to figure out they used pivot hinges. Problem solved. I might buy these again so I can replace my bedroom door with a bookcase, creating a hidden room.

The idea is good but the screws provided are junk. The screw heads snapped when installing, even with pilot holes. I use a drill to drive them first and changed to a screw driver. Both ended in the heads snapping off and ruining my frame. Now I have a small screw embedded in the frame in multiple spots. Too small to use a reverse bit to remove them. I do not recommend.

OK so i bought this for a hidden book case door overall i must say that i am very happy with this purchase, I am going to lay out the pros and cons. PRO - Very well made, the overall performance is smooth, seems to be heavy duty also. CON - The installation is difficult not impossible but challenging. No instructions given, how ever you can log on to ALISE website and get a one page instruction. Most hidden door hinges have a pen that screws down to lock into place, this one does not, making the installation challenging. Overall it is a great product for the money, i would buy again for a smaller project.
