SOLAR WINDOW THERM

I did love it BUT less than 1 month after I install this product it gave out (display missing many segments) I have tried to contact the company but to date I have not received any reply.

Second time buying this. First one lasted over 5 years. Still like it after all these years!

Not at all happy with the product. Temperature reading constantly off by at least 7 to 8 degrees.Would not recommend.

I've owned the less expensive, non-solar recharging version of this window thermometer in the past. The cheaper product without the solar generator lasted for years and servd me quite well. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the solar powered rechargeable night lited version. I ended up buying and returning no less than four of these thermometers. Not one of them ever charged the solar rechargeable battery, and all of them failed to light up at night as advertised. To make matters worse, after the first rainstorm this product stopped working altogether.Eventually, I ended up chucking this product into the garbage can in sheer frustration and disappointment.I can't emphasize enough to prospective customers interested in this product to stay away and absolutely do not buy it.Most disappointing Amazon purchase that I've ever made.

This thermometer arrived with a dead rechargeable battery (0 volts). Instead of hassling with returning it, I replaced the NiMh AA. Two months later, the thermometer stopped working. La Crosse wasted my valuable time and deferred me twice on the warranty. So, I decided to take it apart and have a quick look. I’m an electronics engineer, with decades of hardware experience. What I saw inside, were wires which looked like they were soldered by my 6 year old. Improperly connected wires and zero quality control. Now, since I’ve only inspected 1 unit, it’s entirely possible this was an unauthorized product or something like that (it happens), but I have to give this 1 star for the product and La Crosse’s slow inadequate response, until I have the time to look at a few more. Amazon’s customer service was absolutely stellar and fast compared to La Crosse’s warranty contact.

This is a nicely designed gauge and backlighting at night works for about 6 hrs. In Cincinnati summer and southern exposure. Where you place the thermometer will determine how well the light works and the accuracy of the reading. If you pick a window facing south and out in the open, the light will work fine but the temperature will be to high. In the winter, I got 3 hrs of light. I did improve things by replacing the original rechargeable aaa with a new Duracell nimh. It's rated 3 times the capacity. You also need a long life battery for the actual running if the gauge. I strongly suggest you use a aaa LITHIUM cell. I don't have stock in the battery companies. Just, lithium works longer in Midwest winters.

Great idea but poor performance. The solar-powered nightlight came on for a few hours (pretty cool) after the first few days of exposure to direct sunlight but hasn't come on since. I should have returned it to either Amazon or the manufacturer but just did not want to take it off the window, prepare the paper work, mail it back and then go through setting up a new one. I'll take the visible daytime temps (looks accurate so far) and time and just live with it.

Easy to install and easy to change time or adjust. Once installed the bulk of the unit lifts out of holder without removing part stuck on window so can change items without having to restick. . Range of days temps is used more often than would expect. This is our third one to check temp range all around house.

I have a different type of temp gauge upstairs at my house and it seems to always show a lower temperature. I am wondering if there is actually enough heat on the window glass to cause this to read a little higher. I really like the light. The rechargeable battery did not work and I had to buy a new one. I guess I could have sent it back but it didn't seem worth the effort.

This was a replacement item and I felt it was valuable to me so I ordered the replacement immediately. I have it on my kitchen door and the temperature is checked many times a day. It is wonderful and I fully recommend it.

This was a replacement for one that failed to work after about 6 months. I really liked it and wanted to replace it. Now the 2nd one has failed after being installed about 6 weeks!!!! Not only that, the return policy at Amazon has also expired and cannot be returned. I will absolutely find a replacement that does work but will NOT be from La Crosse Technology!!!!

Bought this for my Sis. She gets up early and wanted to be able to see the temp so early. She loves it. Hope it displays cold temps colder than their advertised temp. It get 30 below here in upper Michigan! Gotta know to put on the best long johns....ha ha ha ha

Excellent timing! This product stopped working completely one day after return window closed. The solar batteries do not power the thermometer but just the back light that did not work out of the box. The thermometer sensor gets exposed to direct sun and spikes during the times the sun is directly on it storing a false high reading for the day. Please don't purchase this poorly designed and badly implemented device.

I sent this thermometer back and will not get another one. The description said it included batteries. There weren't any in the package. The description DID NOT say that they recommend you charge the batteries on a charger. I don't have a charger. But the most frustrating thing was that in order to open the battery compartment, you had to use a small Phillips head screwdriver and remove six screws. They are very small and hard to handle, and they were in there so tight it took me a long time to get them out. Then when I did, I couldn't pull the cover off. This is way too much effort and somewhat painful if you have weak hands or arthritis. The seller was very prompt, but the item was not well packed. The blister pack was open due to it be squashed into the shipping box. Definitely not a good experience.
