The first live-action television series from Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, UFO remains a benchmark sci-fi production, featuring mature storylines and groundbreaking special effects. Long-awaited on Blu-ray, it is presented here in a stunning new High Definition restoration, with all 26 episodes offering original mono or 5.1 soundtracks alongside a wealth of special features, including:[] A brand-new feature-length documentary on the making of UFO by Jamie Anderson[] Rare archive material including textless titles, TV spots, unused footage, Italian trailers, archive interviews, audio outtakes...and much more! Review: UFO finds new life in the BluRay format - The series looks phenomenal in the BluRay format. There are times watching this when you feel you are actually watching a Bond FILM, viewing the series in this format. BBC Resources did a wonderful job restoring/cleaning up the series when making HD masters back 10 odd years ago or so and the series really does find new life/shines in the BluRay format. Was very wise and forward thinking of Lew Grade and Gerry Anderson to film this series back in the day in 35mm, securing this series' place in history as a true classic of the genre and keeping the show alive for future generations. The BluRay format really brings out DETAIL and shows that level of painstaking care Gerry and his team were noted for even in the SuperMarionation days. Having seen these episodes numerous times over the years and owning the 2002/3 DVD releases was amazed to see details that I had never really noticed before. For example, in Episode 1,"Identified": the coloured lights flashing on Mark Bradley in the Interceptor (shades of Bowman in the pod in 2001); the red and yellowish colours coming from the crashed/underwater UFO; a slight but prominent scar on the left side of Peter Gordeno's face whilst flying Sky1; you can literally see the individual hairs in the Moonbase girls' wigs; even Alec Freeman's wink to the lovely SHADO operative upon entering the SHADO bunker is more clear. Some talk online about the transfer being too bright and I did notice some odd hum in the audio bottom end towards the end of Identified at least. Comparing from light to dark settings on the HDTV, the show did seem a little more stronger visually with a slightly darker setting. Comes w/ multipaged book (!) and the box art is the best ever done for the series. As mentioned in other reviews, the disc holders are a bit odd and one wonders whether they will hold up to repeated maneuvering. Network is to be commended for putting some effort into this release (Now, can we have a restored, remastered version of the New Avengers from 35mm, please, Network?). See UFO again, for the 1st time. (2018): A further note on the blurays regarding soundtrack: As George Lucas said, a film's sound/sound design is 80% of the viewing experience. If you set your Receiver to DTS to play the sound of these blurays through the DTS decoder, you will get the best possible sound. The DTS sound is really a VAST improvement over the mono track or anything in standard Dolby as DTS has a higher dynamic range/sampling rate (if you can set your player or Receiver's audio sample rate to 96k, do so). In fact, the DTS track may be a bit too muscular (those MiniMoke Shado Transport vehicles have much more "weight" in the soundtrack now; the SHADO Mobiles will literally rock your house if you are using a sub or two. A couple of other of examples of the improved sound here: the Main Titles - Barry Gray's exciting theme has excellent dynamic range, is very powerful in the bass-end and, frankly, kicks arse on these blurays; it's great to hear this fast-paced-action theme in such a strong presentation. A couple of episode-specific, improved sound examples from one of the best UFO episodes, "Timelash": towards the beginning of this episode, notice when the UFO attacks Straker and Col Lake in Straker's car, and at one point flies overhead off screen toward camera and, during this, the sound pans with the UFO to the back surrounds (if you have them and your system is set to DTS Neo 6.1 or a 7.1 setting) and it really is like the UFO has just flown overhead over you - this gives a more immersive experience to viewing these episodes and is like watching a feature film. Also, the chase scene with the SHADO Minimokes, Straker and Lake pursuing Patrick Allen around Pinewood - good panning effects following the action and use of back surrounds and some good low end presence for the vehicles. In short, Network has put some effort and thought into doing the surround soundtrack. Now, the explosions, a highlight of any Anderson production, are stand out - they are BOND FILM style explosions that finally have powerful sound to match Derek Meddings' superb spfx shots. The UFO exploding towards the very end of Timelash will almost rock the house with a subwoofer connected and may alarm close-by neighbors :). Again, this equates to a more immersive, feature-film like viewing experience watching these episodes. DTS is the way to play/hear these discs. So, not only see these episodes again for the first time in the new format, but hear them as well for the first time in DTS. UFO has a bit more muscle now in the sound dept. which is entirely appropriate for what is, essentially, an action-based/SF war series. Review: The Aliens Have Landed - Gerry & Sylvia Anderson's First foray into live action TV UFO finally Takes To The skies in an excellent High Definition Transfer. often cited as a serious science fiction series contender To The likes of Star Trek or The Invaders The cream of British Talent in front and behind The cameras managed To create a Truly and believable Television series. popular character Actor Ed Bishop stars as commander straker in command of The mysterious organisation SHADO out To combat Alien Threats To The world. I love your purple hair
I've been a fan of this series since it was first broadcast, and it's my favourite Gerry Anderson product, although I like Fireball XL5, Thunderbirds, and Captain Scarlet. As a boy I was drawn to Gabriel Drake in her very revealing costume with purple hair, and a fan of Ayshea when she turned singer. I also like Wanda Ventham and subsequently watched a lot of television when she was involved. This package on Blu-Ray presents crystal clear images and sound, although there are very few extras, just a couple of episodes which can be watched with a commentary (why?). I would have much preferred a "making of" disk and, perhaps, a photo gallery of the characters and models. Despite some of the technology being dated, and the fashions being very much of the 70s, this box set is a great way to relive those stories from when we still believed space travel was just around the corner, and that alien races infested the galaxy, with their greedy eyes on our green and pleasant planet. Good fun, strong characters, and interesting plots, from the days before the story arc was all, and individual episodes weaker because of that.

Fantastic sci-fi series. Wish it had gone on for more than two seasons.

DVD(COLLECTORS'BOX)は持っています。

Consegna veloce ,in anticipo rispetto a quanto previsto , costo bassissimo dell'intera serie .
