I have never counted calories before but got this scale to use. My wife and I both are needing to loose weight. I am using a portion control and measurements for different types of food, certain amount of protein, certain amount of carbs, etc..The portion measurements are decent but my wife was asked by her doctor to also keep her calories a little bit lower. I have used this scale on several items which I know. The scale rounds down instead of up so calories and other items are lower than they should be.I can still use this scale but know I will need to go up by about 12% - 14%. My wife adds only 12% on all foods but does not like taking the time in using the scale. We will need to get used to using this a little more. My other scale is more accurate on weight that I can use it for baking measurements and other food portion control.I will try to update this review after my wife and I are more used to it, especially if the calorie counting is good enough for her doctor's approval.

I love this scale! The glass top and weight gives it a great look and feel. It is very helpful when measuring out your portions to keep you within your desired calorie count. It is also useful when measuring out ingredients when cooking. It runs on three AAA batteries that are provided. You can swap between grams and ounces easily. It allows you to place a dish on the scale and zero it out before adding your food or ingredients, which is typical of most food scales.You can down load the NextLevel Fit app that pairs with it for Android and Apple devices. The app allows you to set a weight goal and track your meals. You can use the scale to transfer the food you weigh via Bluetooth to the app. The app is pretty much like other food logging apps. You enter the foods you eat and it helps keep track of the number of calories, macros...etc that you are consuming. You can track your workouts as well. I don't like using food logging apps as they take too much time and I'm too lazy for that. This one does include ads. It also sends alerts to your phone to remind you to eat and weigh each day.Although not a fan of the app the scale is top tier.

Got it for the app tracking. Garbage app wants subscribers and my scale does not connect to app not even in my Bluetooth list. Basic nutrition tracking like any free macro app all it had to do is connect.

This scale is about the size of a normal food scale, so deciding to put the screen on the scale instead of to the side takes up precious real estate. I suppose they do that to encourage you to use the app, but I didn't use the app because I don't use apps by companies that aren't established.Switching though the different units of measure is quite simple.It's really nice that this scale comes with batteries.If you are measuring small items or small quantities this scale could be of use to you. If you're trying to measure chicken, it'll get your measurement, but you won't be able to see it for the bowl or plate your putting the chicken on.

I have gotten away from calorie counting. I concentrate more on portion control and eating whole foods. However, there are times when I would like to know the nutritional content of certain foods. So, I thought this scale would be cool for that purpose and also as a general kitchen measuring device.The scale itself is really sleek and modern looking! It feels and operates like a quality, high end, precision scale. I like the fact that the display is in the lower left corner; because this allows plenty of room to place your dish on the scale without blocking the display. My previous scale was okay but whenever I put a bowl or dish on the scale the display was blocked. Also, the display is large and bright; so, it works well in low light conditions. The functions are easy to access with the touch functions.Now, the app.... The app itself is like any other food logging app. You have entries for your meals etc. However, the scale requires this app to use the scale's Bluetooth feature. Ok, I get it... but to view the expanded nutritional info for whatever food you weigh, requires a subscription. The free version gives you limited functionality and you'll be bombarded with ads etc. Again, I get it... The deal breaker for me was that in order to have the scale automatically input the weight of the food item, you have to search for the food first. For example, I weighed a 6oz salmon fillet. I had to search for salmon first, which took me to another screen; then I had to place the salmon on the scale and then it automatically inputted the weight and calculated the nutritional value. However, I found this to be more time consuming and less efficient than simply using my existing food logging app and using the scale manually to give me the weight. I can place the salmon on the scale, see that it is 6oz., input that into my meal log and be on my way; opposed to all of this search, wait and weigh.All-in-all, the scale itself is incredible but the app will not be part of my routine. I can certainly recommend the scale for anyone in need of weighing food and liquids!

This scale works great. I calibrated it to my current scale and it’s accurate. Perfect for sourdough!

I don't really use the app that much but it is very easy to use when I do and syncs up easily to the scale. The scale is very accurate, I tested it in a variety of units with known weights. I use this mostly for working on my sourdough starter and bread baking, both of which require absolutely accurate weights. This tare functions great. My only issue so far is the autos shut off is pretty quickly, I have had it shut off on me a couple of times during cooking but it's easy enough to restart and then re-tare.
