THEY HAVE SHIFTED TO A CHEAPER VARIETY OF COFFEE.
This is the second review I’ve written for this coffee brand. My first review was 5 stars. The coffee was very flavorful but mellow and the grounds out of the bag were a nice, medium chocolate color. I loved this brand for because it had great flavor and was low-acid. When I received my most recent bag, however, the grounds were much smaller and almost black. I had some grounds left over from my previous bag and looking at them side by side, the color difference is ridiculous. And instead of the nice, creamy, chocolate colored foam that i usually get in my aeropress, there was a weird, black residue in my press. The coffee tastes completely different. Honestly, this recent bag tastes like Folgers. I am seriously disappointed in the ‘change’ they’ve made to a much cheaper variety of coffee and I won’t be buying this brand again.

Low Acid, Low Taste, High Price
I hate leaving bad reviews for anything. Out of 85 reviews I’ve written here to date, this is only my second one-star review, but I think it is warranted. I have a confirmed medical condition that flares up from time to time, necessitating the need for me to drink low-acid coffee for at least a few months, or until I can get the symptoms under control. I only drink one cup of coffee a day, in the morning, so that one cup has to really count. I’ve used the Puroast ground coffee many times in the past, in the French Roast and House Blend varieties, and it has always been fine, if not quite as good as “normal” coffee. This time, however, it was awful; it smells and tastes like burnt chemicals, and not at all like coffee. There is also no expiration date anywhere on the package. I am not a coffee snob, although I appreciate a good cup, but this is undrinkable as far as I’m concerned. PLEASE NOTE: Even if you order this through Amazon Prime, they will not offer a refund of any kind, so buyer-beware.

Burnt rubber smell/taste
I was looking forward to this coffee but the moment I opened the bag, my hesitations rose. Who doesn't enjoy opening a fresh bag of coffee and taking a long, deep smell. Well, from the get go this coffee had a weird chemical smell. Brewed a fresh pot and the kitchen was permeated with a bunt rubber smell (not that nice coffee aroma). Took a sip, same burnt rubber taste that lingered for a while. When my wife came down to the kitchen, her first question was "Is something burning?" . Cleaned the pot/coffee maker ran my regular coffee and there was no burnt rubber taste so I know it wasn't the coffee maker. Very disappointed.Addendum: I was reading through some of the reviews and one review made by Christina stated that she received an "unauthentic bag".The bag I received looks like the one she is calling the unauthentic bag so I'm hoping Amazon is willing to exchange it and the coffee is really not this bad.

May Cause Temporary Side Effects - Otherwise Good Coffee
Being a coffee lover and dealing with GERD, I just wanted to be able to drink a second cup of coffee every day. I was not prepared for the effects of drinking 2 cups, the caffine content of this coffee, or the huge dose of antioxidants this brew contains. The first day it arrived I enjoyed 2 full cups, but the enjoyment was brief. I quickly became jittery from the caffine and felt kind of cold and weird. By afternoon it was bathroom time. I noticed someone else here mentioned the coffee "cleaned them out," but that's an understatement. The gas coming out of my backside was unbearably foul and seemed to saturate everything around me. I was on the toilet 3 times in 15 minutes, but this didn't stop the noxious gas. While the loose stool only lasted the first day, the gas continued for the next 3 or 4 days as I continued to acclimate my body to this new drink. Once my body had adapted, everything was fine.Warnings aside, I now enjoy this coffee. Because of my GERD I used to have discomfort after one cup of regular coffee. This coffee makes it easy for me to drink as much as I like. The flavor starts off a little flat, like a weak cup of diner coffee. After a few sips it is a bit more velvety and buttery with a mild flavor. I never enjoyed a strong or bold coffee to begin with. I used to throw a splash of water into my cup to weaken the flavor, but I don't need to with this brew.I'm only giving it 4 stars because there was no warning on the package about possible side effects. Do not try for the first time on the day of the big presentation, being stuck on a plane or public transportation for hours, or meeting your future in-laws for the first time.

Weak flavor, requires more grounds per cup, seems more acidic than HealthWise or Lucy Jo's
I have been drinking two other leading brands for low acid coffee and finally tried Puroast. Unfortunately, I think it will be the last time I order this product. I was excited about getting a flavored coffee (low acid coffee is a very bland segment of the market), but you can't really taste the flavor in this coffee. At least not enough to know it was supposed to be flavored. Is it truly low acid? I feel like there is more acid in this than Healthwise or Lucy Jo's. Both of these brands deliver a deeper coffee taste and experience. Lucy Jo's flavored coffee is definitely better. Finally, Puroast requires 50% or more extra grounds be used in each cup, meaning you are going through it faster than you would expect. For me... that's good news: The sooner I'll switch back to the others.

BUYER BEWARE: NOT AS ADVERTISED!
Item IS NOT "House Blend". Product arrived with a sticker reading "House Blend" covering ACTUAL package label: "Columbian Supremo". See picture. In my book: that's called FRAUD and is criminal. I only caught this after brewing and taking my first sip at which point my brain, sensing that my tongue had just been violently assaulted, compelled me to frantically inspect the package to ensure I hadn't just imbibed Aunt Fannie's Perimeter Pest Powder. Insult to injury: the Columbia Supremo, or whatever it really is, isn't fit for compost. Fraudulent "coffee". Authentically BAD.

Solved my mouth ulcer problem
I have suffered from mouth ulcers for decades now and in the last 5 years it became apparent that the primary instigator was coffee. I effectively gave up coffee about 4.5 years ago. Every now and then I would have a cup and inevitably I would have a mouth ulcer within a day or two. I started to use Puroast about 3 months ago and hey presto, no mouth ulcers. I am not a doctor or allergist so I am not qualified to say why this happened. All I know is that it does not cause a flare up. Btw it tastes great as well. A friend who suffers in a similar way is going to start using Puroast so it will be interesting to see how that goes!

Best coffee ever for acid sensitve tummies
If you love coffee, but have acid issues, this is the coffee for you! It took a lot of research to find these guys, but it's definitely worth the effort, and the extra cost to be able to comfortably get through several mugs of this wonderful coffee daily. The packet is larger than a conventional ground coffee package, so it does last a month or so at 1 plunger a day. Have repurchased, and will continue to do so. Absolutely brilliant.

Great flavour, and good with non-dairy milk
Terrific. Great flavour. I sought this out as wanted something that would not curdle my almond milk. The great flavour, and knowing this is low-acid and so better for my stomach is all a bonus. Highly recommended. The large packets are the best value. I decant smaller portions into a jar to keep in the fridge, to avoid opening the main packet too often and potentially losing flavour.

What you need to know before you buy
Reading the negative reviews, the major complaints are this is not a dark roast, not even a medium roast, no taste and flat at best. However if you are expecting what you will get in a normal, caffeinated coffee, of course you are going to be disappointed. Lets be clear. This is a decaf, low acid coffee. It means if you are buying this, you are sensitive and even intolerant of acidic drinks. You are also avoiding caffeine. Decafs are always less strong than normal coffee. Less aroma and less after taste. Low-acid also means less robustness and character. This Puroast is exactly that. Less acid, less caffeine. I have tried it and it is absolutely less-acidic and very decaf. The taste is expectedly flatter. But it is not flat and not without aroma. More importantly, it really is less acidic and is most suitable for those who are avoiding stomach, gerd and gastritis problems. It works. It is seriously better than any on the market like Healthwise. The only con of this coffee is that the packaging does not mention who is the manufacturer. This should be mandatory for all food products and also should have information on contents. I was so concerned at first until I searched for the brand online. Just to find that it is a coffee chain in the USA. Which sort of calmed the worry of accountability. Anyway, Amazon should make it mandatory for all food products to have labels approved by the USA health authorities. This is unacceptable.
