Works well
This is the best way I know of to get liquids out of a barrel but we also use it to transfer water to other places. We had the best results when the receiving container is on lower ground was on lower ground.

Completely satisfied
I purchased the product for a rain barrel that only had a bottom spigot. The product is pre assembled and screwed into the top plug very easily. I had to pump the handle 4 or 5 times and then water began coming out. I don't think the product would hold up to frequent use (I could be wrong) but for the occasional use I will be using it for I think it will work fine. Well worth the price.

The siphon tube is sized (34” length) to exactly fit a 55-gallon drum height (though can be easily trimmed to fit a shorter barrel)
ON MY THIRD SEASON OF USAGE I have this TeraPump TRDRUM20 on my outdoor 55-gallon blue-drum (water barrel), and I am on my third season of usage. The water barrel is supplied by rooftop rain via a downspout diverter. I use this set-up to water my backyard urban garden of vegetables and herbs (pumping into a 1-gallon watering can). The siphon tube is sized (34” length) to exactly fit a 55-gallon drum height (though can be easily trimmed to fit a shorter barrel). The TeraPump’s cap fits cleanly and tightly into the standard 2” fine-thread bung opening, and still maintains a good seal after three years. The siphon action is still strong … until my barrel is about one-quarter full (i.e. the height of my watering can) but I can still manually pump the barrel (sans siphon) until nearly empty (which is seldom necessary, unless we have a mini-drought period). I cannot vouch for pumping anything but water, and that this TeraPump is made of HDPE #2 (food grade plastic) so it IS suitable for ‘drinking water’ (assuming, of course, the barrel contents are potable). CAVEATS This is not an indestructible device. It is entirely plastic and lightweight, and should be handled with care. My barrel and TeraPump are located outside in complete shade, largely protected by an overhang. Thus, there has been minimal exposure to UV degradation … which IS an issue for (non-stabilized) HDPE. I only use the pump for the six-month growing season (April thru September). I remove it, clean it, and store it inside for the other six months (freezing temps would most assuredly destroy it). All that said, I estimate that I have pumped more than 2,700 gallons of water thru this TeraPump – one gallon at a time – now in my third growing season. And I have just purchased a second one for back-up, because I figure I’ll need it … eventually.

Great Siphon Pump with Multiple uses
Although this is meant to fit a 55 gallon drum I purchased it for my hot tub. As a siphon pump it works great. I use it to remove debris that settles in the bottom of the hot tub as well as siphon of the residual water left after draining the tub. Although it does not have the suction of a motor assisted pump, it does the job.

Siphon pump worth the money
I wasn’t sure which siphon pump to purchase to use with my food grade 55 gallon water storage drums. A neighbor recommended this one. I bought it and tried it immediately. So easy to screw it into the drum and with only 3 hand squeezes and the bulb, the water began flowing. Towards the end of draining the drum I did have to pump more but it took barely any effort. I bought another for a friend to store in our earthquake sheds. Good product for a good price.

Plastic shavings?
It does the job, but it leaves little plastic shavings from the pumping action in the water. I use this to transfer drinking water from 15 gallon jugs into a smaller jug that we keep in our kitchen. Hopefully after some use this unfortunate side-effect stops. Also, I can't get the siphon feature to work. It does work for pumping so I think I can give it three stars despite the other negative aspects.

Excellent !!
We originally purchased the TRDRUM20 model from this vendor to pump water from our 55-gallon drum for different purposes. The pump arrived quickly and neatly packaged. The instructions are extremely easy to follow and installation takes seconds with the pump sealing well to the drum opening. Once flow begins it remains steady and at a good volume until the air vent cap on top of the pump is unscrewed (just a turn or two are necessary). We are currently recovering from severe hurricane damage here and since this pump has served us so well in the last couple of months, we have ordered a smaller model, the TRDP15, to use with some other containers as well as a second TRDRUM20 for the in-laws. The instructions also include a list of fluids which are recommended for use with each piece. I would recommend either of these models to anyone looking for an easy to use, light-weight siphon pump; Great products.
