Body-Tec Medical Grade Thumb Splint/Support/Brace NHS use

Size appears to be an issue for others but for me is fine, I have small hands and ordered the correct size as per their sizing chart and therefore it fits.However........the Velcro closing has edges that needed to be trimmed by me as they stick out and actually cut into the hand. This is not immediately apparent it only becomes apparent with wear.Having worn it for some time now, it really does support, when I'm typing as at times I need the extra support and when I start to get pain I put it on and that does the trick to stop me flexing my wrist,it is comfortable and a glove fits over it quite easily.The real problem is that the item smells........it smells appalling to the extent that having removed it one night and put it on the bedside table I then had to remove it to the other side of the room to escape the smell.Edit.And two years later I've bought two more. These might be cheap and cheerful but they are excellent. New ones still smell just as bad but the cure is to leave them to air. It might take days but the smell goes and it's more than worth it.A bit of tape to cover exposed Velcro to stop it catching helps.

Very good item, I read the reviews before buying and as more said it was good than bad, I thought I would take a chance. My right thumb is giving me a lot of problems (arthritis) and I found wearing this all day in the shop, where I am handling so many different things all the time, gave the joint stability and took away the perpetual ache that had been there. It won't take away the sharp pain if I push too hard or lift too much (that's my fault!) but for the 'ordinary' day to day things it is exceptional in its support and comfort of wearing. I am typing this with no appreciable difference in my skills despite wearing it.I will definitely buy another one when this one wears out.

A very good product for the Money, and bought for De Quervain's Tenosynovitis. I like that you can remove the Splint.I have been told by my GP to only splint at night while my hand is resting and in the day I wear the body-Tec as a support.I give this Thumb Splint five stars and recommend it to others suffering from this Tenosynovitis.

Great protection but I use it more to tell me not to use that thumb for anything too heavy. I had the cream one as more inconspicuous. Not so good to get wet but easy to put on and off for showering etc. washes easily but suggest ordering 2.

I have found these to be brilliant for using for osteo arthritis in my thumbs when I have a painful flare up

If you have Carpal Tunnel, Tenosynovitis or arthritic pain in your thumbs then this item is a must. I am an Emergency Nurse and have had joint pain at the base of my thumb, using it all of the time without a splint was becoming extremely uncomfortable. I did try the NHS version, three strips of Velcro on the wrist, one twisting around the thumb then fastening on the palm, not a very flattering colour (mustard), elasticated which made the hand very sweaty and the metal splint just wasn't in the correct position. I tried a few on which I found on the High Street, they were uncomfortable and very expensive. The Body-Tec splint is easy to put on, comfortable to wear at night with no sweaty hands in the morning. Another plus for this is it can be worn on either hand, unlike the NHS one. Ordering was easy, ordered before noon and arrived the following day.
