Chrome Nail Powder

I've tried the gamut of nail powders available on Amazon. All hoping that the next one would be better than the last. Charming May was my first batch. No other ones have exceeded these powders yet. Too bad they don't make a laser holo one, because all the holos I've tried so far are horrible and can't find one like they use in a salon. Anyway, these Charming May powders are heavily pigmented, you only need a tiny tiny bit to get the effect or you can do multiple layers for an even deeper intense effect. All the little pots I got were pretty full, they will last a long time. Tips for those who aren't familiar with using these powders: You can use them over regular OR gel polish. But!! For the optimal adhesion, you must not wait till the color/top coat layer is fully dry. The key I've found is to pat the powder on while the layer is *almost* fully dry (for regular polish) or a 30 second gel cure. No more than 30 secs for gel!! Dab the powder on for coverage, then go back and press down and smooth it out and lightly burnish it with your finger tip. It becomes like metal, so shiny and smooth!! Wait till fully dry THEN apply your no wipe gel top coat and cure 60 secs x2 for a nice hard finish. Instructions say to put it on the top coat, then apply final top coat, but that isn't necessary. You can, but then you need 2 layers of top coat. I personally don't like thick gel nails, so I only put it on my base color then finish with the top coat. Note!! If using a regular non gel top coat, these powders WILL dull down a bit. So beware of that. These are meant to be used with gel top coats for the maximum effect. Done properly, these nail powders are just AMAZING.

These powders are really gorgeous. They were kind of a spur-of-the moment purchase, but I really love them. Over blue nail polish, the blue-green one has a gorgeous peacock effect, and I used an array of the others over dark burgundy polish for a really fun, multitonal jewel tone look. They're very easy to use, applied with fingers or the applicators that come with them. FYI I attempted to apply them using regular nail polish and top coat, and gel polish with a regular UV wipe-off top coat - neither one worked. You HAVE to use a no-wipe UV gel top coat as a base coat or the powder won't adhere properly, and you have to use it on top or the powder won't retain its metallic look and will just look like a regular metallic nail polish (metallic but kind of grainy, it won't keep that cool foil look).

Over all the product worked as shown. The powder amount in each container varied wildly. 3 of them were full as every other chrome powder I have purchased from other sellers arrived. The other five containers came filled carrying from less than 1/4 full to half way. I sent an email to the seller on Thursday and today being Tuesday have yet to receive a response. The quality is perfect just not a consistent amount in each container. **update** up to 3 stars now. I was contacted by the seller. They explained and showed me pictures of how much should be in each container as per their description, but I still feel even though (each container is filled by hand) that a container this large should be at least half way full not just enough to barely cover the bottom of the container as the image they provided me. To nitpick over 0.3g or 0.5g to 1.0g I find hard to handle. Again this product is of great quality and the finished product is great just not keen on how filled or not filled and varying the quantities of the powder is in each product.

I somehow missed the fact that you must put a color gel underneath. Otherwise, they really are pretty transparent. So, you can see them in the first and second photo with no color gel underneath. After putting on the top coat and curing it, I always like to dip my finger into the chrome and rub it on my nail. Of course, you have to have freshly washed hands to do this. Otherwise oil from your fingertips will make itmsomthatmthe chrome doesn’t go on evenly. Doing it this way on natural nails is messy as you can see in the first photo but it is less messy and you use less product than if you use the brushes that are included. The main thing is to use a spoolie or something else that has a pretty sharp tip to remove the extra chrome that is in the nail bed, add a second top coat and cure. Then clean off the extra chrome that got on your skin. If you try to remove the extra chrome off your skin before you add the second top coat and cure, you can accidentally take the chrome off of your nails and have to start all over again. In the 3rd and forth photo, I used deep pinky/purplish press on nails instead of my natural nails to see the effect. Of course it was 10x easier to wipe it on with my finger and didn’t waste hardly any product. And I didn’t have to store an applicator full of chrome powder. But you can see that the result is just so lovely! So, I can’t fault the product for needing a color underneath. It has description photos showing how you are supposed to add a black color coat underneath. But I will give it less than 5 stars simply because adding a color coat underneath takes more effort. But I am excited to try having a different colored color coat underneath like yellow polish underneath purple chrome. It would give a more 3 dimensional effect! I looked all over Amazon for hours looking for the best deal with the best reviews and this one seemed to be the best bang for your buck at least right now as I’m writing this review. I find that prices go up with the better that the reviews are and here I am adding to the positive reviews! I’ll definitely be using this chrome a lot.

DO NOT PURCHASE! The containers for each of the powers only holds a SMALL amount. The picture for the product is deceptive. The powders are not multi-chrome rainbow of colors. They are monotone. Though they advertised 8 containers of different colors, I received duplicates of the same or similar color. I used a nail disc and used each color over black and white. Please refer to the picture. This was a waste of money and time. I hope i can return the item.

Didn't like this chrome, I found it pretty daul looking.

This product is really good. I love the multichrome and the colours in the chrome, although the quantity is small and uneven amounts. Would've qiven this a 5 stars if the quantity was at least reasonable.

There is barely enough powder in these containers to even do a full set of nails with.. the containers literally are about 1/8th full. Not even worth ordering these as they arent even enough to be considered sample sized

I should have trusted the reviews. Normally when purchasing nail powders like this, the amount isn't large, but this was ridiculous. The amount of powder is so small, it doesn't even cover the bottom. There is likely an eighth of a teaspoon of powder, maximum. I had a 2$ coupon on these, and despite being pretty and functional, I would not order these again even at 50% off.
