High quality lock
This lock is extremely sturdy, but fiddly to install. I had to purchase a seperate 32mm drill bit for the main hole in the door (you need other drill bits as well). The main bracket that sites between the front and rear sections of the door needs to be cut between 6 and 7 mm long - this is very fiddly. Fortunately I had bolt cutters and a metal file, so I was able to get the length exactly correct, but it took some time. It was also very fiddly to fit the internal lock mechanism to align with the bracket. I ended up stuffing the hole with some kitchen roll to have the bracket sit at the correct height and angle. This model has the dual locking function, so you can lock the door on the way out and if someone smashes a sidelight window they cannot unlock the door... Very high security. It came with 3 keys. I asked on the Screwfix site (UK), what oil should be used to lubricate the lock and they recommended 3 in 1 oil. The lock closes with an awful thud, I wonder could ERA not improve this to be less of a racket. The lock has a "hold open" function using a small black button on the lock body. I had a laptop stolen years ago as someone was able to use a credit card on my lock - you cannot do that with this lock. The lock is fantastic value for money.

Good product and no issues for me
Felt obliged to write a review given all the mixed reviews on here. I can only assume that the bad reviews were due to people trying to install this product themselves. I had a reputable local locksmith come out to install it professionally and he commented on how good this lock is and how it should be installed by a professional. Installation cost more than the lock, but the lock is pretty well priced. The product looks great, is very sturdy and I’ve had no issues whatsoever. The door feels far more secure now. I would highly recommend it.

An excellent lock but needs patience and skill to fit
A very good lock and it’s appearance will put opportunistic thieves off and professionals won’t even try because they know it is drill proof, but if you have limited tools and skills it may not be for you, the tolerances are only +- a couple or so mm, you have to cut the actuating tongue to just the right length and it is then very fiddly to get the tongue into the lock body and positioning the holes for the cylinder have to be spot on in order to get the backplate correctly positioned, if you do it yourself only put one securing screw in the backplate until you are sure you can mount the lock body and when you cut the actuating tongue do it by gripping it with a set of grips and then cut it with a mini hacksaw up against the grip jaws. You might want to fix the hasp with 12g screws to make it more resistant to being jemmy forced

Heavy material and nice finishing :)
Quite different than the old replaced, good product & quite solid to secure the door !

Inside mechanism breaks - this will lock you out!
I tried this item three times since 2016 and all items have displayed the same fault: with time the latch becomes harder and harder to close (you will notice that you need to slam the door harder), this is because the internal mechanism has broken and is no longer working correctly. ERA told us this had happened as we had not cut the tongue short enough (apparently it needs to be ridiculously short, to the point that it hardly gets into the other part - I cannot even begin to describe how difficult this is when fitting it!). So we ensured to fit the second one exactly as instructed. A few months later we have the very same issue. Everything is OK if you close and open the latch with the key (i.e. delicately), if you, however, slam the door to close it, soon enough you will be locked out as the mechanism will simply seize (we learnt this lesson with our first ERA lock). I am now reverting back to a YALE lock. We simply cannot recommend this lock to anyone. In fact, make sure not to buy it. Buy this instead Yale YALPBS2BLX Security Lock, Brasslux, 40 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yale-Nightlatch-Standard-Security-Brasslux/dp/B004J33YMU

An excellent lock, recommended
This is a great lock, deginately worth the money. Its BS kite marked and fairly simple to fit. The deadlock is really neat, an extra press on the door and it latches.
