A unique and entertaining vision in the comic book world
Jesse Jacobs has his own flavor. It's smooth and entertaining but quite original in the visual storytelling world. Considering this is "alternative cartooning" or at least non-traditional, Jesse goes about telling a story that doesn't feel overtly agenda driven or pretentiously complex even though there seems to be an underlying message as it frames a funny outlook of the pettiness of humanity against the ignorance of our environment. The message is more subtle than it might sound and is told in a unique visual style. Despite the goal this story may have, the design is engaging, quirky and diverting so that you often forget that there might by a bigger principle behind the narrative as you have so much fun getting lost in the details. But regarding what I've just said I don't know if I would say this story is an outright environmental story. It's too surreal to define it quite so narrowly, but it does seem to relate a type of harmony with nature, but also recognizing a certain sense of the requirements of life and with a subtle humor to it all.The visual style vaguely reminds me of Herge's Tin Tin, but Jacobs has a more contemporary graphic style and an eye for geometric settings and background environments. Visually alone this story is fun to look at with interesting use of layout, shape, and funky line work. The images could almost tell the story by themselves, but the dialogue keeps the flow intuitive and gives insight to the type of characters the story is dealing with. This is alternative cartooning to be sure, but not with a statement that bashes you over the head. Jacobs brings you in with a zen-like appeal. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I'm interested to see more of Jesse's work in the future.

Perfect short comic book.
This was fantastic. The story was weird but had a certain flow to it, and the drawings were tight and hilarious and inventive. I caught myself more than once thinking, "I wish I thought of that, or what a great idea for a creature!" The quality of the paper was nice too, and the cover felt durable enough that I could take it with me without accidentally destroying it. I can't remember where the recommendation came from, it might have been from one of the major graphic novel publishing companies, but I'm glad I followed up and purchased this. Highly recommend for anyone's collection.

Tip top illustration, mind warping dialogue.
I'm going to try not to sound like a giant stoner, but this is a really trippy graphic novel!!It's messed up, hilarious, suggestive, interpretive, gross, and the subtext is, well...far out.Definitely worth the read if you don't have seizures or get stressed out looking at lots of intricatetininess with a increasing sense of danger and impermanence.

A Bold and Bewildering Masterpiece
I have nothing but admiration for Safari Honeymoon. I enjoy it's surrealist art style, cheeky subject manner and poignant message that we are all ultimately part of nature regardless of whether or not we live in a city. Nobody else but Jesse Jacobs could have created such a work as this. I'm very glad to have purchased my copy.

Jesse is a jeenyussss
All of Jesse's books are mind and consciousness expanding tools. The illustrations alone will take you on a trip deep into the void of your subconscious to awaken a vibrant frequency that lies dormant in all of us.

Interesting and minimalist.
Oddball book, some great art if you enjoy the style. Very minimalistic design and short, but an interesting addition to any collection.

Just like the real jungle: demanding tourists and plenty of poisonous and/or hungry wildlife
One of my favorite graphic novels and I have a few hundred. The art is mathematical, geometric, and fantastic. The story is creepy and funny. It reminds me of my favorite place in the Jungle, a wild place with a few ultra expensive eco lodges, demanding tourists, and no shortage of poisonous and/or hungry wildlife.

Beautiful and Cruel
The printing is has a nice textured feel from Koyama Press. The graphic novel itself is a trippy adventure with wonderful greenscale art.

What a trip!!
Great little trek through a bizarre, unsettling and surreal safari. But the books very last page arrived damaged and was folded so not very happy about that.

Loved It!
The setting of the Safari really allows this comic to showcase some great weird creatures which are both cute and overly hungry to eat humans. When the comic first arrived my girlfriend started reading it and she didn't put it down till it was done. After she finished with a resounding "that was great!" i picked it up and did the exact same thing! However it won't be the last time as I want to revisit the artwork because the story made me flip to the next page quickly just to see what was going to happen(a great problem!).

As fantastic as prime numbers
Reading the book has been a very uncanny journey. The technique, layout and logic of the depicted universe are almost mathmatically articulated, which make the experience smooth and immersive. But then the conclusion at the end of this logic can really stand out and suprise you. As fantastic as prime numbers.
