Bought for my 79 yr old diabetic father. The hooks were not large enough to hold his nail, they kept popping off. It did the same to my nail, mine are not that thick. Product was as described, and was strong enough to do the job, if you have thinner nails. I needed heavier duty.

Works if you use it right.

This tool looks like it should work. There were no instructions, but the instrument is mostly intuitive. The small hooks fit under the edges of the big toe nail (likely with some pain). The block in the center hanging from the threaded shaft is centered above the nail and screwed down. It is supposed to lift the sides of the nail while the center of the nail is held down. It seems the foot should be soaked in hot water for a while to soften the nail. With the nail flattened out I assume the tool should be left in place until the nail dries. Unfortunately the tool I received didn't work. Once down on the nail the threaded shaft would not turn inside the block. It seemed the downward pressure on the shaft caused it bind in the block and it wouldn't turn any further. Thus the tool didn't work. I'm returning it and ordering a different brand. Hopefully it will do the job.

The bottom part that goes on top of nail doesn't have any type of cushion or padding. So just 4 hard pronged metal peices on nail bed which hurts when screwing down. I tried it on both ingrown nails and haven't seen a difference. Going to try to be a little more aggressive and use something to cushion the metal prongs.
