To this day, this subgenre has matured into an artistic and sociocultural movement and not just literary. The steampunk unravels in an environment where steam technology remains predominant, and normally, settled in England during the Victorian Epoch, where it is not strange to find common elements of science fiction or fantasy. Steampunk-themed works often feature anachronistic technologies or futuristic inventions imagined by the visionaries of their time, all based on the Victorian perspective in culture, art, fashion and even architecture.
