Simply the best - one of the oldest cartoons but wonderful
Early cartoon film style that would have been ahead of its time when made. - First introduced tho this film years ago 2006 - Tracing a Grandmother and her grandson who has lost his parents, in their dysfunctional family life and that of their dog - Eventually the depressed little lad got a puppy and a bike - The puppy took on all the neurosis of the family and the bike took him to the tour de france - What an adventure - Watch this again and again - so odd, so very cleaver.

Probably the best cartoon ever made!
This is the kind of cartoon that could only have been made by the French. Brilliantly witty and yet full of pathos. The music thoughout is extraordinary thanks to Benoit Charest (and Mozart). The Kyrie from Mozart's Grand Mass in Cm accompanying the 'pedalo in stormy seas' scene is inspired, but is typical of the quality and care with which this masterpiece has been put together. I have watched it 100 times and will never tire of it! In the same league as 'Mr Bird saves the World' another extraordinary French cartoon which probably hasn't made it onto DVD? I would be first in line.Check out the clips on YouTube and then buy it!

Bleak and Beautiful
I bought this on recommendation from someone who talked about it with a sense of fulfillment and uplifting, coupled with a lively smile. Mmm, I can't say this film stirs those kind of emotions in me but it is interesting and I'm glad to have it in my collection. All the characters are incredibly ugly and the story is sad, but somehow, the overall style is very beautiful. There are certainly many noteworthy highlights, one of which is a sequence which manages to make a fleet of 2CVs look really cool! I have yet to watch this again, but imagine it could grow on me during future viewings.

Odd, but wonderful!
A slightly strange animated film with very eccentric characters (well, it is French, but there is so little dialogue, that no one should have any difficulty following the odd-ball plot!). Excellent animation -no expense spared! I love Disney & Pixar, and I love this film, too. Possibly, too odd for children, but adults with a broad taste will, at least, like it! Take a chance, it might be the best animated film that you've seen in years.

It's...the French Mafia!!
I loved this when I first saw it and went around recommending it to anyone foolish enough to listen. The granny, the dog, Les Triplettes and their frog-catching techniques are marvellous. The French Mafia heavies are superb too. This is easy enough for anyone to understand, it's imaginative and a lot of fun. Anyone who loves riding a bicycle should watch it...especially if they're training for the Tour de France...!

This is an excellent animation with some really clever touches
We had this on video -rather old hat now. So I bought the dvd for christmas. This is an excellent animation with some really clever touches. Each time we watch it we see some new aspect of it. And if you buy it make sure you see it through to the end , including the credits , so you don't miss the final irony.
