It will surprise you how quiet it is -- Fantastic compressor for modelling
I am just getting back into model building after a break of 45+ years. I had a little compressor from Badger back then and WOW was it loud!!! I liken it to my garage air compressor I have now that I have to wear earplugs for... Well needless to say the D3000R is a tad quieter -- I have it sitting in a space on a bottom bookshelf (it really is small) in front of my work station and when it turns on to fill the tank it sounds like a soft, almost soothing, fast paced "buda, buda, buda, buda" sound. I read the the sound level was 47 decibels but it really takes hearing it to really appreciate how quiet the compressor is. I have used it in one room while my wife was sound asleep (and remained so) in the next -- with both doors open! The pressure gauge is accurate and easy to set. The only negative I have heard about this is that it may be underpowered... For my applications in model painting, it has more than enough power. I spray at between 12 and 22 psi. This little machine can push 45 psi all day so I am a very happy camper. I was going to go with the Badger Aspire Pro compressor but went with the D3000R. Other than the cover on the Pro and an additional $57.00 I can see no difference between the two. Super glad I went with a quality Paasche product. Get it and you will be too!

Amazing compressor.
This thing was a game changer for model painting. I can paint nonstop and the compressor can keep up and doesn't run nonstop when you are priming a model or other larger parts for other things. Its exceptionally quiet. This thing sits at my feet and I mean I notice it when its on. But its not loud and doesn't cause a lot of vibrations. Really recommend it for people just getting into air brushing. its likely the only compressor you will ever need for air brushing tasks.

Buyer Beware: Very bad quality.
I ordered two of these compressors and they both were defective. The first compressor had stripped threads in the output air fitting attached to the air tank. The fitting had to re-tapped to make it useable and leak-free. I have read other reviews from people who had problems with the output air fitting not sealing. They were told to wrap a lot of teflon tape on the fitting to seal it. The second compressor had a problem with the pressure switch which is supposed to cycle the compressor on and off as the air pressure drops. The compressor was cycling on and off about every 10 seconds with no noticeable drop in pressure on the pressure gage. That compressor was returned and the replacement compressor arrived and it was damaged. The pressure gage metal housing was bent and pushed against the gage needle which made the gage inoperable. There was no external damage to the packaging, so it appears that the compressor was packed that way at the manufacturer (made in China). I will not buy another one of these compressors.

Great Compressor.
I always wanted a air compressor for airbrushing plastic models, and after doing a bunch of research I settled on the Passche. It works great! It's quiet and easy to set up and use right out of the box. My only complaint is that the regulator isn't super intuitive, but I eventually figured it out.

Overheats and no capacity
I have bought two of these compressors for air brushing, Both had issues with overheating and cutting out while painting. You have to stop frequently to allow the compressor to catch up on pressure and they get extremely hot when running continuously. I would not recommend this product.

Great compressor
Got this on one-day shipping. Works great, and is solidly built. Have not had much time to paint with it yet, but so far it is outstanding! Very quiet, and the tank holds a good amount of air. I have it on a 4-airbrush manifold and it seems to deliver good pressure across the board. Good price point, highly recommended.

decent compressor with vague instructions
really i would give this 3.5 stars but i don't have the option. the compressor is nice and quiet, but it has some draw backs. it gets really hot and i don't feel comfortable letting it run for too long. the instructions are practically non existent and i know what you're thinking... "how complicated can an air compressor be?" well you're right. its not. but the switch has two on positions and you basically have to figure it out for yourself. one leaves the tank filling and stops when it has reached capacity, and the other runs indefinitely. this may have more to it than what i have observed, but a simple page with a description would have been nice. the overheating issue is more of a concern because thats when the compressor creates more moisture and can ruin your airbrushing. i only use this at night when i'm concerned about waking others. other than that, i think its best to stick to your all purpose, big and loud compressors. just build a sound-dampening box for it.

Wonderfull hobby compressor, very happy!
I am very happy with this compressor. It was easy to set up, easy to use and maintain and is much quieter than my older Paasche compressor. The handle on the top makes it easy to pick up and move around my hobby desk. The air regulator is a little on the tight side when I change pressure, but that could be the way it is designed to function. Once I became used to the tightness, it really wasn't much of an issue. I can't recommend this compressor enough, you won't be disappointed.

Five or six hours into actual use, and the compressor lives up to its claims of quiet and steady air. I airbrush miniatures in the 20-32mm scale range and I tend toward lower pressures than a lot of others I know. This has delivered a very steady 15psi through regular use. Even at compressor on/off I have not noticed any appreciable increase/decrease in airflow. You get approximately 60 seconds of air at 15psi before the compressor turns back on. From a full tank, you can continually draw 15psi without any pressure dips for over ten minutes (which is the amount of time I tested), but the compressor does run for the entire time. The unit does get hot, enough that touching the heatsink would be more than uncomfortable. It is very quiet, as advertised. With music on in the background, I didn't actually notice the compressor turning on and off. The sound of air leaving my airbrush is louder (due to proximity) than the compressor at the end of a six foot air hose. I haven't had this machine for very long, so in the event that it begins to perform poorly, I'll update this review. If it happens that I try a higher PSI, I'll also report back my results.

I have only had it for about 4 weeks, but so far it works like a charm. It's cheap, performs good and is very quiet. The only negative I can think of would be that it's a US company so if something breaks or so there might be some complications, but I have faith :)

Quiet and efficient. Runs my two airbrushes with zero problems. You may want to invest in quick releases for your airbrushes. I also bought the extended cord so I would move around my studio more easily.

The first one of these I received was missing the tank nut, which wasn't a deal breaker as I have a spare. However, the metal plate with the markings on the regulator was so badly bent that the needle would get stuck around 30 psi. It also leaked so badly where the regulator and tank connected that I could hear the hiss from there. There are two settings, one that works like every other compressor with a tank, where it shuts off when the tank is full and kicks back in once some of the air has been used. For some bizarre reason, there is another setting where the compressor is always running, even when the tank is full. The noise level is very good (low). I would say that this compressor "works", but it feels more like a cheap knockoff than a mid-range hobby compressor. Compared to a Badger TC910 that I also own, it is far inferior in every meaningful way. Edit/Update: Amazon very quick sent a replacement (5 stars there; it arrived in 2 days). The replacement however, is also defective (regulator). So this gets dropped to a 1 star.
