Evo-Lock Swiss Army Knife - Swiss Quality - Great Knife!
EXPERIENCE: This is a large pocket knife, (Around 4-OZ) but this was to be expected when I purchased it. As such, this knife does not fit well in my pocket, this is why I elected to buy a leather pouch for it. This way I can have it on my belt and I won't notice it, and it makes it easier to get to when I need it. The weight however is spaced out evenly throughout the knife, so its easy to hold in my hand, is not bulky or awkward. At first I questioned the evolution grip, but was pleasantly surprised, as it worked well, and my fingers never slipped off the knife, at any time.I elected to go with a locking blade style because of a horror story I heard. A friend of mine bought his first Swiss Army Knife many years ago. He had a older style with a non-lockable blade, and due to the fact he didn't have a saw utility, he was cutting on bamboo with the main blade. Well, long story short, that blade snapped back on him, and cut his finger all the way to the bone. And lets just say it didn't look pretty, and still has the scar today to prove it!MAIN BLADE: The 2.5" main blade is razor sharp, you can cut into cardboard with it, make a spear out of a sapling, or prepare food. You can also split bamboo down the middle (Man Vs Wild Style) to be used for makeshift fire starting or a makeshift raft. Or could just be used to open boxes in your factory job. I order lots of things, so I find that ability quite handy. To collapse the blade, you must first press down on the locking arm to release the blade, it then will fold into the knife like normal.THE SAW: The aggressive 2.75" saw blade is very sharp and is excellent for cutting through small saplings when your out in the wilderness to build a makeshift tent, cot, or river raft. It will cut through anything as long as what you are cutting is not over 3" in diameter. While knots in wood tend to stop many tools from getting through it, you will be happy to know, that no knot will stop the Swiss Army Knife saw! Works great!THE SCISSORS: The scissors are equally as sharp and will cut through anything with ease, as long as you use them for what they were intended. Unlike Victorinox models which use a spring return system in their scissors, Wenger uses a torsion bar, which I believe works better. And, lastly, because the scissors have a serrated blade edge, I never have to worry about them going dull on me.THE PLIERS: The included pliers are extremely useful, though the metal is pretty thick, they are meant for small jobs. Don't expect to take a bolt off a truck with one of these. But there are times when I need a set of pliers, don't have any in the house, and don't want to have to walk all the way out to the garage, in freezing weather, to get them! For house chores and craft work, they are a perfect addition to the Swiss Army Knife. And because the pliers contain a wire crimper and cutter, I am able to perform my electrical chores as well.SECONDARY IMPLEMENTS: This knife also includes a #2 flat head screwdriver with cap lifter and wire stripper. They are very useful, and I do use them on occasion. The knife also includes a can opener, nail file, and nail cleaner. If I am ever lost or stranded somewhere, these are the kinds of things I will find quite useful! Having a can opener means I can bring canned goods with me on a camping trip. I have tested the can opener and it works pretty good, I was surprised! The knife also carries very useful tools such as a #2 Phillips screw driver, reamer, awk, toothpick, and tweezers. Most all electronic devices today use a Phillips head screw, I can't tell you how many times I use this tool! I can use the whole knife as leverage while working the tool effortlessly. The reamer is something I would rarely use, but on a rare occasion, might need to poke a new hole in my belt. After eating a hearty meal, I find the toothpick to be an excellent addition. Leaving food in your teeth can cause cavities, so I am glad that Wenger included that one, works great. And lastly, the tweezers are incredibly useful for removing splinters out of my hands, or for working with very delicate work, such as computer circuit boards.CONCLUSION: The thing to always remember with a Swiss Army Knife is that you have to take care of them. You have to keep them clean and well oiled, to insure that both the stainless steel metal, and operation of the knife remain smooth and fluent. I feel that for what I paid for this knife, I got exactly what I wanted out of it and then some. The quality is superb, and that is exactly what you can expect out of SWISS made, stamped right onto the steel of the blade. If you are serious about having a pocket knife, Swiss Army Knifes are the only way to go. Best knife I have ever owned, highly recommended, 5 out of 5! I plan to show off the mirrored finish to a bunch of people, hehe

All around impressive tool.
First I have to mention just how impressed I am with how quickly I received this item. 72 hours from placing the order to my mail box. I've never dealt with Price Pros (through Amazon) before but would certainly do business with them again, considering this SAK arrived a whopping 9 days ahead of the estimated delivery date! The packaging was more than adequate to protect my new Wenger S585, and it arrived brand new, well lubricated, and unopened, just as advertised. The knife itself is also a quallity product. This being my first foray into the realm of Wenger knives, and coming from a long line of Victorinox enthusiasts, I was a bit nervous when ordering this SAK. I have to say I am very pleased. The added safety feature of a locking main blade is a definite plus. The large flat head screwdriver doesn't lock, but when I apply pressure, it's design is such that it won't just snap back into the closed position. Again, a good safety measure. The serrated scissors work VERY well on clam shell packaging and cardboard, and the adjustable pliers make this Wenger all the more versitile. The saw goes through tree branches an inch thick like they were butter. Fnally, this Wenger is a bit smaller (length wise) than my Victoorinox Deluxe Tinker, which is another pleasant surprise. There are really only 4 things about this Wenger that are, in my humble opinion, inferior to its Victorinox counterparts. First, the reamer, awl, hole punch, or whatever you want to call it, is not sharpened like on the Victorinox SAK's, nor does it have a hole in it for threading. Second, the can opener, while perfectly suited to the task, lacks the small flat screwdriver that the Victorinox SAK's offer. I consider this a double whammy because that small flat screwdriver also works on many smaller philips screws, due to its particular design and shape. Finally, both the toothpick and tweasers on the Wenger are kind of flimsy compared to the ones offered by Victorinox. Since I actually use them both a lot, I feel a bit underwhelmed when I pull out the Wenger pick after a good meal or the tweasers to remove a splinter. They look so delicate that I keep thinking I'm going to break them. Still, they DO perform as advertised. I want to be clear about that.At the end of the day, however, I am more than impressed by the versitility, functionality, design, quality, fit, and finish of this Wenger. I feel that it definitely holds its own when taking "the Pepsi challenge" against Victorinox. The pros and cons I've mentioned are purely subjective and based on my own personal bias. Objectively, I can't see ANYBODY being unhappy with the purchase of the Wenger S585.

Very good SAK, but too big for me.
As far as swiss army knives go, this one is pretty good.PROs: Great main locking blade; it's a little stiff, but hardly any SAKs have a locking blade--big plus! I love the can opener. It's very sharp, and functions well as a second blade. The serrated scissors work really well, stay sharp, and cut very easily. The Philips screwdriver is nice and thick, so it functions well. Finally, the evolution grip is nice, and quality is top-notch.CONs: The pliers and saw are too small to be very useful. They just add unneeded size and weight. It's rather large in my pocket, and I'm not one for belt pouches. Because of this, I don't carry it many places, which kind of defeats the purpose of an edc knife. This is a great knife, but it's kind of a pain to carry everywhere. If only Wenger made an Evo 16 with a locking blade. I'm currently looking into a Leatherman Wingman because of its belt-clip.
