I have a cat that has sprayed to mark his territory in the house. An important step in curbing this behavior is monitoring. I wanted to get a UV “black light” for every room, so it was easy to check often for signs of marking. However, in my experience, UV lights are either a) quite expensive, or b) cheap, but in a spectrum that doesn’t let me see urine staining, and thus, a waste of money. These little lights are powerful, lightweight, compact and easy to store.

I bought this to find pet stains that I need to clean, but this light is both weak, and also not great at illuminating biological matter. You have to get RIGHT up on it, and you may notice a slight coloration, but you've gotta have great eyesight. I guess I had unrealistic expectations, but I remember using blacklights in high school, and they would illuminate everything very well. Maybe I should buy one of those.

Many of the competition did not offer batteries with the flashlights, these came with 6 making these a very good value. You do have to look at the end of the battery compartment to see which way is + or -. The light is not incredibly bright, but I think it will suffice for my needs, which is to check for bedbugs on hotel beds.
