Fall Out Boy will be releasing their 7th album M A N I A from Island Records on 1/19. The album features "Champion," "Young & Menace," "The Last Of The Real Ones" and new single "HOLD ME TIGHT OR DON'T" which will be impacting ALT radio this fall. M A N I A is the follow-up album to the band's platinum-certified American Beauty/American Psycho, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 upon release. Grammy-nominated Fall Out Boy is currently on tour, hitting all major US markets. Review: My favorite FOB album :) - The sleeve for this album is SUPER purple in person, like SUPER SUPER saturated purple... looks funny compared to the art online haha Review: Hold It Tight, or ...Do It Anyway! - This album is AMAZING! Hats off to Fall Out Boy. The MANIA wave never made sense to me until Pete Wentz said at the iHeartRadio release show that "Everyone thinks mania is the opposite of depression. But it's not. It's like a wave, and that wave doesn't care about how you're feeling, it's going to keep coming and getting back up again." It is so much better than their last album. They tried new things but it feels much more genuine (and this is coming from a TTTYG fan from Chicago who moved to CA.) I highly recommend "Hold Me Tight Or Don't" - it's got a nice beat you'd find in Mexican music, and I feel like the band has put their LA surroundings into this album in a good way, such as the surf chords and that. Also, it's purple, all the merch is purple, and they gave this album to the true fans for $4. Isn't that great enough?

Hold It Tight, or ...Do It Anyway!

Fantastic Songs
I admit that I ordered the clean version of Mania by Fall Out Boy before thoroughly double checking on ordering the the explicit version of Mania by Fall Out Boy. I admit that even with my Amazon Prime membership, I intend to eventually purchase the explicit version of Mania by Fall Out Boy within 5 months or less and I am glad to have still obtained the Clean version of Mania by Fall Out Boy (both versions appear to be in similar length). It was an easy decision for me to give the music collection of Mania by Fall Out Boy a listen because I first was drawn to their music around the 2005/2006 timeframe when I frequently heard their song Dance Dance via both local radio and television when both my husband and I were stationed on the Mayport Naval base in Florida (plus I purchased a cd/dvd collection of Believers Never Die by Fall Out Boy in January 15, 2010 in Orlando Florida as their music was also popular on local Orlando Florida radio). Anyhow, regardless if my viewpoint is in the minority or popular, I actually feel that every song on Mania is superb and contains a unique blend of rock, indie, and electronic for some of the songs. The song Champions and Hold Me Tight or Don’t drew me in to eventually obtain the cd but there are other multiple songs to also give a listen for music listeners still deciding on obtaining this collection; Church, Heaven’s Gate, Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea, and more. However, because I enjoy each song within this collection I would obviously keep an open mind to listening to any of these songs that are made available as music videos andor audio links online.

A solid FOB record.
I mean, critically I'm feeling more of a 3.5, but as per the Amazon rating system, yes, I love it. I'm a casual FOB fan w/ most of my interest lying with Folie a duex (their high watermark for me). This album is... well, M A N I C. In other words its a wild, fast paced ride that jumps from different ideas and experiments at lightning speed. I'm really enjoying all the variety, it impressively manages to hold together well with the core of it all lying with the traditional FOB approach to songwriting and execution. There really isn't a weak song on the album IMO, having said that however I don't think there are many blow you out of the water moments either. If you're not a "rock only" type you might enjoy it. It took a few listens to really get into it.

Another good FOB album
I felt this album had a really cool vaporwave feel to it, from the cover to the groovy feeling songs, this album just felt like 90's California, in a good way. I felt that even with a slight style change, the music still felt like Fall Out Boy. I've been listening to them since 2004, I haven't liked all their songs, but this is an album I wouldn't pass on.

Bands evolve, bands adapt, the sound changes over time, and people don't seem to accept that with M A N I A. It is definitely their most pop-leaning album out of the 7, but that isn't a problem. As a die hard fan since the release of Infinity On High, I think their evolution is wonderful. Yes, it's one of the few albums Fall Out Boy has produced that has some tracks I actively dislike (Heaven's Gate isn't really my thing, and I skip Young & Menace more often than not) but there are some of their best songs on this album. Bishop's Knife Trick alone makes this album truly special for me. I would hazard to say it is possibly one of THE best tracks they have released, ever. Seriously. Last of the Real Ones is incredibly catchy, Champion is a fun sing-in-the-shower kind of song, Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea brings back some of the bass-heavy, grungy lyrics type songs from their earlier days etc. This album gets hated on far too much. No denying it's very different from anything else they have done, but it's certainly not different in a negative way for me.
