Passable
I gave it 3 stars only because it has some funny bits and Tea Leoni acts well her histeria but.....it has all the usual cliches and errors that Hollywood refuses to correct since West Side Story ( 45 years before!):1- The Mexicans are servants, even if they were middle class in Mexico, and the Americans (a cook and an unemployed wife) are so rich they can pay $650 to a child to collect bits of glass.2- The Mexican woman did not learn a word of English in some 7 years in the USA, but then learned it in one month when it was needed for her to have the romantic scene with Adam Sandler.3- White Mexicans (or any Mexicans) DO NOT refer to White Americans as Whites. They call them Gringos, Blondies or North Americans or something like that.4- Mexicans DO NOT call the USA America! America is their continent.5- The generosity of the American family is impossible to believe.

A truly enjoyable Sandler/ensemble film
I love this film as it has great characters. Sandler shows a little more depth (and boy he does have some). The lead female...well, I could watch all day and night and am in truth, completely in love with. I cannot tear my eyes off her. She is incandescent, beautiful in every way. Marry me!!

SPANGLISH
Athough I am not a great lover of Adam Sandler, and i do have other films that he is the leading actor, CLICK & FIRST 50 DATES he has not come over as a very large actor (in personality),But I must say that in this film he has exceeded himself and passed with full honours. He seemed to be the key that held this movie together when it was about to fall apart,it was going from one scene to another without much guidance or reason but along came adam and everything fell into place.I have never seen Tea Leoni,Cloris Leachman or Paz Vega before, but they all worked together making this a very memorable film.the idea of a mexican servant who couldn't speak a word of english was absolutely hysterical, and when asked to make some coffee paz's expression of total shock at seeing the cofee maker was a picture in itself.Tea Leoni seemed to float around trying to organise everyone and failing was a sort of portrail of the life she was living on screen and the mother (Cloris Leachman) who always seemed to have a glass in her hand suprised me by becoming sober and offering her daughter some good advice. So on the whole a very enjoyable film that I am glad to have seen and will not forget in a hurry

Very Watchable
Seen this film, or bits of it, many times. Excellent. Not Adam Sandler's usual type of film. There is No slapstick or knock about comedy. It is funny, but in a more sarcastic, educated, witty way. The whole team of actors work well together and they are all included in the story, everyone has a part to play. Definitely a film for all of the family, although there is a 'noisy' bedroom scene near the beginning, which mums and dads, of children under about 13, may wish to remove child from room for, just a few minutes - maybe send them to get a snack out of the cupboard or to the toilet - until that bit is over.

Bland, annoying, waste of time.
Amusing at first but quickly became a bore, main characters are unbearable. BORING storyline, pointless end. This film can’t decide whether it’s a comedy or a drama. Complete waste of time.

Excruciatingly poor script
We went for the review stars indicating this to be supposedly a good movie, and rented it.Sadly, the dialogue and plot development is cringeworthy.Had to just abandon it after 15 minutes (if that) as a bad investment in our evening's entertainment.

CULTURE CLASH
Subtle comedy of cultural manners that shows Whites as emotionally shallow and materialistic while Hispanics are seen as having a more emotionally and ethically-based culture. This movie is also a drama about the nature of personal identity and the fact that it comes initially from ones birth circumstances - a fact that can be rejected, but never denied. This woman-centered movie features fine performances and reminds us all that when you take on a woman, sexually, you take on the world.

What a surprise
When I heard the title and learned that Adam Sandler was in this movie, I had very low expectations as he is not one of my favourite actors and generally I don't like his movies. What a pleasant surprise. This is a wonderful film, not at all the low-level fluff film I expected. All the female actresses, young and old, are absolutely terrific, and Adam Sandler does a respectable job in a semi-serious role. Perhaps sometimes there is a bit of overacting but the writing is very clever, and the film will elicit laughter as well as tears. I found myself still thinking about the movie the next day, something that all too often doesn't happen with today's highly forgettable films. In my opinion this is really a movie for teens and up, not a movie for children. Aside from a bad word or two and a (hilarious) sex scene, the underlying themes are quite adult.
