Q: Is it possible to put the globe on any base or does it only work with the clear three-pronged base shown in the photos?

You can use any base, so long as it does not contain anything that would interfere with the magnets inside. However, the clear, three-pronged base creates a subtle illusion that the globe is hovering in the air, and also makes it clear that there is no mechanism attached on the bottom making it spin. MOVA offers other attractive bases, but frankly I don't think they would give the same effect as the default three-pronged one.

I believe you would be referring to what was the "cobra base". This base was discontinued a few years ago and would no longer be available.

Q: What is the removal media?

I'm not sure I understand the question. I took the globe out of the packaging, put together the base and set the globe up on the coffee table in our living room. We are very pleased with the purchase and receive a lot of nice comments about it. Everyone wonders how it rotates inside, without direct sunlight. I hope this helps.

Beautiful but hidden cost!

The media could not be loaded. This globe is very beautiful & amazing to watch. What Amazon don’t tell you though is that there is an additional tax cost to pay as it comes from Italy! I had to pay an extra £50 to the courier!!!!
