Plug and play internet/networking
First and foremost, this worked immediately for me with a Windows 11 laptop. Plugged one end into a live ethernet port connected to my work network and the other into the laptop's USB C port. Already had the laptop's wifi shut off just to test. Didn't have to change any settings. The laptop just found the internet within 20 seconds and I was able to pull up a browser and launch a speed test in under the first minute plugged in. Was as fast as my network would allow, so I'm very pleased with it living up to the promise of function and performance. As far as the cable itself goes: Beefy is a word that comes to mind. Thick braided cord with robust metal end caps. Nice snug fit for both connectors. However, if your USB-C female port is anyhow counter-sunk into the device frame, you may need to reconsider this cable. The USB-C end housing steps from the male end to 0.5" in housing, then again to 0.75" in housing width. The cable is a tad bit bulky for those with travel space concerns, but if the alternative is a dongle and also an ethernet cable, then it's about the same, but all in one package. All things being equal as far as travel bulk is concerned, I still prefer this single unit cable so I don't lose just one part of it. But something to consider, as the 6' cable when coiled up is a 5.5" diameter bundle that sits a full inch off the table in height. You could wrap it tighter, but you'd be going against the cable's natural flex resistance at that point.

Convenience, I feel like it’s the only reason why I shop on this garbage site anymore
This wire is not even recognized from maybe 3 to 4 different PC and mac computers. I tried very hard to be able to make use of this, but it is definitely not useful. So I hope that whoever is trying to buy this sees this please look for something with better reviews or something maybe at your local target or Best Buy. Even though it’s made in China there it probably has some functionality or at least you can get your money back there.

Plug and Play and No Need Longer Need an Adapter
At the time of this review, I've been using it for a few hours so I will update accordingly in the future if something changes.First off, it works. Plug and play simply enough. I was pretty skeptical given the fact it didn't have that many ratings currently but it actually works and I no longer need to use an Ethernet adapter/dongle.I've used it on my ASUS Zephyrus G14 laptop as well as Samsung Galaxy S23. Pretty consistent speeds around 300+ Mbps which is what I normally get on Wifi but maybe slightly faster. I have 5G home internet so speeds will always fluctuate compared to fiber/cable.For what it's worth, I've also used it on my PS5 by sharing through Android Ethernet tethering. Speeds are also about the same as if it was plugged into the router at 180+ Mbps. Some technical details; Windows detects it as ASIX AX88179A USB 3.2 Gen1 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. Speed 1000/1000 (Mbps). The only concerning thing is that it does get fairly warm on the USB C of the cable. The various Ethernet adapters/dongles I've used in the past do not get this warm so I wonder if there will be overheating issues in the future.Again, I've only tested it for a few hours but I will do more prolong tests with gaming and other use cases to see how well it holds up.Highly recommended if you need a plug and plug cable and don't want to use an adapter.

Does not work for USB C cameras
Bought this to use with my Unifi Protect G4 instant camera which supports PoE and data over USB C. Doesn't work since it doesn't seem capable of doing the PoE handshake to request power to be sent.

does what you expect, with some caveats
It makes a lot of sense. People with laptops that do not have an Ethernet jack can get access to wired ethernet using a dongle and an ethernet cable (e.g. in a hotel room with bad WiFi). Why not merge those into a single item? This does just that, and it works well. Plug it into the laptop and your router and bingo.I have 2 caveats, though...First, the cable it thick and bulky, and quite stiff - especially compared to current thin ethernet cables. Yes that makes it very sturdy and robust. It also means that (a) it's not just dangling from the USB port but actively trying to adjust its angle, which could mean unexpected disconnects. And (b) it adds more bulk to your travel pack.Second reservation: whatever length you get, that's what you have. The 8 foot cable was about 2 feet shorter than I would have liked during my first use. When I carry dongle + cable, I usually carry a 15 ft cable in the same space as this 8 footer.

Works perfectly
I work in networking and use this daily to connect my USB-C laptop to wired network ports. Keeps me from having to carry a dongle and a network cable. It also works well to connect my Pixel phone to the wired network to test the connection without having to get my laptop.
