My son was crying with laughter
This book was just perfect for my son. The cute unlikely hero and side kick were an instant hit. This book is packed with illustrations so really held my son’s attention. Normally he would insist on full colour books. The Viking long boat joke had my son crying with laughter. Any book that does that gets 5 stars from me. We will definitely need to buy the next one in the series.

Hilariously funny, a great read!
Bought the book for my son’s birthday, we finished it very quickly as the story is short, but he hasn’t stopped talking about it, and quoting funny lines from the story.A great book, for those who love reading, as well as reluctant readers as it isn’t particularly long. Would recommend, can’t wait for the next instalment !

Amazing
Just brilliant and Murray is just too cute I love when he just goes back in his cat bed straight after that adventure

Great
This is the type of book I’ve been looking for. It has the feel of a chapter book and with black and white drawings on every page, but not too much text to be overbearing. Perfect for my 6 year old who is in that in-between stage of picture books and chapter books. He read it all in one go and was so proud of himself!

Giggly adventures with a fluffy new hero and his sticky sidekick! Can't wait for book 2!
Fans of Max & Chaffy, Kitty Quest and The Story Shop series are going to love this super cute, time travelling, funny series too. Even if you haven’t already read the aforementioned, you’ll love it!! It looks like a book that might overwhelm a young reader due to its thickness, however, let me assure you, it’s way more illustration than text. YAY!! The style is like a super long picture book with chapters (not graphic novel style)… so if you have a youngster transitioning or in between picture books and chapter books - this is ideal.Murray is a wizard’s cat, and he’s suuuuuuper cute, super expressive, super witty and really skilled at lots of things randomly so that wherever his magic cat flap takes him on an adventure in time, he’s able to quest valiantly. Probably. But what is an adventurer without their trusty sidekick? Murray, like me, loves sticky buns and he was juuuust about to eat one with a cherry on top one day when his rather befuddled wizard turned the bun into a sort of little cute bunny, who can only say BUN, which means all sorts of things!! Luckily Murray speaks Bun. Phew.In this first adventure (for Murray will be a Knight this Summer!) he launches through his magical cat flap into the time of the Vikings. Murray is immediately suited and booted for a mission to rescue a missing member of the tribe who is feared to be captured by the trolls. EEK! Together the daring duo head off to solve the mystery while at the same time discovering interesting (and hilarious) things about the Viking world from blacksmithing to longboats. Are the trolls really the baddies in this story? Are there any baddies at all? Probably NOT! This is a jolly giggle of an adventure that introduces themes of helping others, accepting differences, problem-solving, following clues and our fascinating early history. I really can’t wait until the next one. It’s really joyful and giggly.

Fun, illustration packed great for younger readers!
Murray and Bun is a new book series about a cat, Murray, who wants a quiet life of snacks and naps, but lives with a terribly incompetent wizard and a sticky bun that was magically turned into an enthusiastic, equally sticky, rabbit.Murray’s catflap is accidentally enchanted to transport him to various shenanigan based adventures. This first installment is Viking set and is pure fun. There are longboats and hammers and eggs. And herring. The book is heavily illustrated and is the ideal bridge from picture book to chapter book. There are visual gags, puns galore and witty turns of phrase. Gloriously eccentric and utterly readable this brought to mind the vibe of the Claude books by Alex T Smith.A personality filled delight, I can’t wait to see what solo delight Stower gets up to next!
