BaracutaMen's G9 Modern Classic Jacket

OK. Firstly, let me say that this is a great quality jacket. No - its not THE best quality jacket out there but it is way above most you will find on the high street. Think Barbour quality and you wouldn't be too far off the mark. I was very pleased with the cut and the finish. Spare buttons are also included.Apparently Baracuta is now owned by an Italian company and the quality has dropped off the since it was taken over. However, the English and Italians know their way around a sewing machine so it didn't matter to me.Sizes - very confusing. I'm not sure what sizes are used here on Amazons site - English, Italian or American but it was very hard for me to determine the correct size jacket for my body type. I ended up returning the first two as they were too small and finally settled on a size 46. I must say full credit to Amazon and the store selling these as I was credited each time within a few hours of dropping it off at UPS (free return shipping). No fuss. No problems. Couldn't be easier.OK. I am 5' 11" and 190lbs. Not athletic build or over weight. No strange proportions with shoulders, arms, torso etc. Just a pretty regular - if a bit Dad'ish - type bod. Should maybe do a few more sit ups rather than have that extra beer but hey ho...Anyway, I couldn't get a proper handle on the sizes (is there a size chart somewhere.?) so started with a 40. Forget it - I couldn't even get my shoulders in. Sent back for a 44. Lots better but slightly tight when I exhaled. Sent that back for a 46 which - for me fits perfectly. Definitely go for a bigger size then you think you are!All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and how it went. A bit hit or miss with the sizes but I got there in the end.

Im 5'9, 175lbs, 42R suit coat and in a dress shirt 17 32x33. I emailed baracuda and told them i liked my jackets a little baggier and was apprehensive of buying a 42 and they recommended a 46. I double checked on the baracuda site and indeed, a 46 was the equivalent of a US size XL. Due to the reviews of them running small i was glad i did get a 46 instead of a 42. I wore an undershirt, long sleeve T, and a sweater vest under it and it didnt fit too tight and i had full range of motion. The jacket wasnt hanging too far off my waist either and i certainly wasnt swimming in it. The cuffs came to my wrists and all in all its a perfect fit. The tag does say "made in the UK" however all my email correspondence came from Italy. It has a double zipper so it can stay secure on the bottom and if you want to unzip from the top and pop the collar it will stay in place. Nice tartan lining and appears water resistant. Very expensive but if you want the real deal this is it. There are much cheaper versions on etsy and ebay, but none were made in the UK or at least the ones I did find wouldnt ship to the USA so I broke down and bought the authentic. Certainly not a winter coat and like I said, buy a few sizes bigger if you want a more relaxed fit

The jacket arrived with a defective / non-working zipper! Additionally, the material is "cloth" and not the typical G9 jacket fabric. The classic cut runs boxy and doesn't present as stylish or well fitting as the G9 slim cut. Further, I was unaware per the product description that classic implied a regular (roomier) cut rather than the more popular slim cut. Size selection was also challenging according to this merchant's size chart.. However, I referred to Baracuta's website for helpful and accurate size information. Unfortunately, due to the defective zipper and preferred G9 slim style, it was necessary to return this item!

This is every bit the classic Barracuta jacket I've been wearing most of my life. The quality is 100% what it always has been, and the tan color is perfect for my wardrobe.Note that the jacket runs very small. I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs. In most outerwear (e.g., North Face) I wear a large or 42. In this jacket I ordered a 46 and it's none too big. A 48 would have been too much, but only just.

I wore a Barracuta jacket when I was in my teens and twenties. I loved it and it was a classic. Looking for a new spring jacket this year I was surprised that they were still available. The fit and look are the same. Still a classic

The harrington jacket is and always will be a classic piece in men's closest. Baracuta G9 is the most notable brand and model of this classic jacket. Many colors to choose from and made in England. Price is hefty but the quality is superb. This G9 is a slimmer fit instead of the traditional loose fit, which I think is great for the modern look. The dark navy is much closer to black than navy, so if you prefer visible navy, choose navy instead.

Great classic jacket in Navy and iconic branding and interior lining. Jacket is authentic. I also own a cheaper alternative from ben sherman in sand color size medium. The G9 jacket is better quality (YKK zippers, made in London, superior stitching) albeit not $280 better in my opinion but hey I love them both.I know there are a lot of size and fit questions so I’ll go into specifics for mine here.I’m 5’9 170lbs and I have an athletic/muscular build. For the purposes of this review I have 39.5 chest and a 31 waist. I ordered a 42. It fits comfortable but a little too much material in the stomach and lower back area. I returned the 42 and ordered a 40. It’s a little snug if zipped all the way up the chest almost to the neck. For example if you reach across your body to grab a seatbelt it pulls a bit. But it looks more flattering without the excess material on the lower back or waist. I hope this helps when sizing your purchase. 4 stars because I feel it could be slightly less expensive.

Ordered a 42 tan. Not even close to authentic. No buttons over the pockets. No tartan liner. Single zipper. Cheap machine stitching. Inside pocket is incorrect (and filled with business cards?). Only thing legit is the tag.It’s sad to see a company (shopbop) which Amazon owns ripping people off on their own website. This jacket probably cost $5 to make in China and is being sold for $400 on Amazon. Absolutely sickening to see. I would recommend ordering directly from England if you are interested.
