An Act of Faith
Alright, let's get into the nitty-gritty of septic tank care, which I know is exactly what you woke up this morning itching to read about. I've been using these septic tank bacteria and enzyme treatment packets, and let me tell you, it's an adventure of faith. Why? Because flushing one of these down the toilet is a leap into the unknown. It's like sending a tiny, granulated astronaut into space. You hope it does its job, but really, who the heck knows?Opening the package, you're hit with a scent that makes you think, "Did I just buy spices, or is this supposed to keep my septic tank from turning into a biohazard?" It's bizarrely clove-like. I half-expected to bake with it, but no, it's meant to be flushed away into the bowels of my plumbing. The contents themselves look like something between damp granules and a rejected concept for a dishwasher packet. "Large and in charge" could describe either this product or a dishwasher pod from an alternate universe where cleanliness smells like a spice rack. And they say this set gives you enough for an entire year of treatments. A year. That assumes that in a given year, I won't have accidentally flushed something down there that necessitates a professional coming out, looking at me disappointingly, and asking, "What exactly did you think was going to happen?"Using these packets is the household equivalent of throwing a Hail Mary pass. You do it and just sort of hope for the best. There's no ticker tape parade or a pat on the back. You just drop it in, flush, and then go about your day, secretly wondering if you've just contributed to the health of your septic system or if you've merely seasoned it for the massive failure it's destined to become. In summary, if you're into the idea of septic tank maintenance with a side of existential doubt and a dash of culinary confusion, these packets are for you. They're the unsung heroes of the plumbing world, embarking on a mission where feedback is as murky as the waters they dissolve in. Four stars because, in the end, I'm all about that base... of bacteria and enzymes, doing their thing, hopefully. Or it's just placebo in packet form.Either way, my septic system is now seasoned for success or disaster. Time will tell.

Very similar to other products I've used.
I put my septic tank system in about 30 years ago. Yes, I meant what I wrote, I personally put it in. Ran 100 gallons of water into the bottom of it before dropping a packet of some similar product in, and sealing it up. I've never had a problem with the system. I might go a month or two forgetting to put a packet into the system, remember two or three months, then forget again. But, it must work for the system to keep working for 30 years or more. No odors, no clogs, no overflows, nothing. The bacteria has to be doing it's job. This particular Medcore brand is pretty indistinguishable from other brands I've used. Little packet of dried granules that will dissolve in water. Grab one, toss it in the toilet, and flush. The Medcore brand smells a little better than some other brands, which is nice I guess. I don't intend to sniff them though, just grab one, toss it, and go. At least there is no foul odor emanating from the cabinet where I store them.Price is about right - I've seen similar products with astronomically high prices, I've seen a few slightly cheaper, this comes in as a good value.4 stars - I expect the septic to keep on doing what it has always done, but I'm not getting into it to take a census of little bacteria.

Easy to use and fast!
I have a septic tank and use these tank treatments to maintain a functional and good septic system that time will tell. The package ziplocks close, which is ideal for me. No heavy odors and it smelled pleasant. The individual packets are easy to use and lightweight to drop in for a flush. That’s it! Simple and easy. I particularly love that it is made in the USA and eco-friendly. I am going to use these once a month. So far, the ease of use and fast maintenance has met my expectations. I am looking forward to seeing better results from my septic with these treatments.

Easy maintenance
This is an easy way to maintain your septic system. Just toss a plastic packet into a toilet, flush, and done. The packets are small and flush without issue. They do have an odor that I’ll describe as an earthy cinnamon, but are kept stored in a sealed bag, so you don’t smell them until you open the bag to remove one. There is nothing to measure, no mess, no fuss. I used to use liquid Rid-X, but have switched to packets such as these because they are so much easier and convenient. This is the only way to fly if you have a septic tank. I simply put an automatic monthly reminder in my cell phone calendar to help me remember when it's time to flush another packet. There are also boxes on the back of the bag that you can check off each month if you wish.

Great Value
Replaced my usual septic treatment pouches at a much greater value. These are tough to tell if they work or not, because if they are working you'll never actually need to find out. So far so good.
