Service No.1 Gripper Handle Kukri - Authentic Army Issue Khukuri Knife - Hand Forged Blade in Nepal by Ex - Military Khukuri House

When I was looking for a kukri blade I was thinking something useful...I'm hacking things with it...but when i saw this one, i was enchanted by the craftsmanship and uniqueness. I wasn't looking to spend nearly a $100, but something about this blade captures the imagination I had to own it! My blade came completely oiled, with certifications and smelled like a far east foundry! I'm extremely satisfied with this blade, despite reserving it for non daily use, it's a beautiful piece that is equally as deadly - feels very solid in the hands, is very sharp and is quite eye catching in the sheath! Ten outta ten!

The blade is awesome, the only two reason for four stars is because the sheath doesn’t have their stamp logo on it, not on leather and not on the tip ether. Really was looking forward to having something hand made with logo as well. It was packed with grease and that’s a good thing. It could have been soaking for a month during storage or shipping and it wouldn’t rust. Grip feels nice and comfortable, you can see the little imperfections, but that’s what I was looking for. It is quite sharp, so be careful removing the grease. The small knife is not very sharp, but the steel to round the blade is very useful. It is a well made kukri and I’m definitely keeping it, even know it’s not as advertised. Found out that the handle is made out of bison horns, it’s kind of like a finger nail structure, but stronger and more dance.

Personally, I find this to be a beautiful piece. Other reviews mention uneven finish, maybe color fluctuations, but to me that makes it more authentic. It looks like it was actually made by a craftsman - if it was flawless that means it was stamped out by the thousands in a far East factory as cheaply and with lowest quality materials available. Mine was razor sharp to the point of being scary. I don't recommend hastily running your thumb along it to see how sharp it is or you will be bleeding and not even know you were cut. I give 4/5 stars on comfort only because I feel the handle could be a bit more oblong/less round for better indexing, but a finger groove for your index finger helps. I would still recommend it 100%.

Feels good to hold it, heavy, whoever forged it, did not cut corners (no pun intended!). I'm looking now for options to display it, somewhere in my office. As it is (and you can see in my picture), I keep it handy on my desk.

I received three packages from Amazon, today. But this Ghurka Khukuri Knife from Ex-Ghurka Khukuri House was the one I was looking forward to opening the most, after a long day of work. I had long been wanting one of these, since seeing them in the Amazon knife browser. After long research and study, I determined that this was the Khukuri knife to buy. Many reviews for about five of the knives boasting to be legitimate knives from the Ex-Ghurka Khukuri House, were sour notes warning of this and that, and were from sellers with no ties to EGKH. This particular knife was fulfilled by Amazon, but on behalf of the ACTUAL Ex-Ghurka Khukuri House. Upon getting and opening the knife, I found it was wrapped in cellophane wrap, and tied with rubber bands. The smell of cigar tobacco was strong in the box, and being a long time lover of a good cigar, my stomach tightened and the craving for a cigar came back after quite a few years. That's when my mind conjured up a factory and warehouse full of Nepalese workers, diligently packing up knives like this one. After pulling the cellophane wrap off, it was still wrapped in an onion-type paper with EGKH logos, and writing on it. The main blade with the two smaller sharpening blades, were individually wrapped with cellophane, and oil was slathered around them, COMPLETELY. Finally, looking at the knife, I was struck by how SOLID it felt in my hand. I held it and shook it and it was a good chunk of a knife. Really a small sword, if you will. If you look at my photos, its got everything that a legitimate Nepal made Khukuri knife needs to have. I ran my finger along the blade edge, expecting it to be dull, or slightly sharp, as some reviews for other Khukuri blades had warned. I'm glad I was cautious and only applied so much pressure, because I felt real bite to the edge. When I take it out to the yard tomorrow and hit branches off of an unwanted tree growing on the side of my front porch, I suspect it will hack off 1.5 inch thick branches as if they were tall blades of grass in the path of a straight razor. The handle is carved and designed to offer a better grip than the other more TRADITIONAL EGKH Khukuri knives on offer. I will say that even though the handle is extremely ergonomic and comfortable, it is very smooth, shiny, and feels a bit slippery. Nonetheless, I am able to hold it well, but a substantial grip is very much needed. I have a great grip, thanks to working with my hands in a warehouse, for over 16 years. The blade is smooth and polished, not perfectly mirror polished, but polished and shiny enough to appease my picky shiny blade tastes. When examining and handling, one sees that this is a WORKING knife. The company who makes it, makes these blades for the British Ghurka Military. So it does what it's made to do. If you want a more refined looking Khukuri Knife, look up the other knife sellers on Amazon to get a beautiful wall hanger for a dollar range of $50-$60+. I selected this beautiful but functional Khukuri blade for $90, because I wanted to own something that is actually being used around the world by various groups of people, including the British Ghurka Service personnel in Nepal. This is a solid, AUTHENTIC Khukuri knife, not a REPLICA.

The item received was exactly as described in the product advertisement. The blade has a heavy spine with a high polish. Some surface defects can be seen but should be expected in a hand forged item. The blade is also extremely sharp with a fine cutting edge. The scabbard is excellent with great fit to the blade and nice blade retention. The accompanying smaller blades also fit well with good retention. The scabbard construction is sturdy and made of good quality leather. The handle material is highly polished. There is no choil or fringer guard so your hand slips easily into the base of the blade which is not good. There is discoloration of the handle material which stands out to the eye considering how nicely done the other parts of the blade and sheath are in comparison. I will probably replace the blade handle to correct the noted issues. The blade alone was worth the price I paid not considering the well made sheath. 4 stars were given because of the handle issues. Otherwise really nice item.

A fine Kukri with a very thick, sharp, polished blade, and lots of attention to detail. The horn grip fits nicely in the hand and the brass fitted guard and hilt add aesthetics add beauty to this knife. The sheath is well made with duel belt loops which fit the scabbard well. The two utility knives are well made also, with a working edge on the small patch blade or skinner. Both have horn grips and fit well into their pockets on the back of the main sheath. Overall an excellent knife which I am very pleased to have in my collection.
