Love the light, solid build, feels good, knobs are quality, great fit and design. Great and the brightness is adjustable, perfect for looking at gem rough. I just wish they still sold the UV version

Gem light arrived and specified batteries did not fit. Was advised to try different battery manufacturers as battery dims may vary and none fit. I finally discovered that the precision machining was not precise and there was an error in machining that prevented specified batteries from being installed, and additionally I discovered factory incorrectly assembled the light. Of course this voyage of discovery took time with little to no real assistance from 9Geek or the Nitecore factory in China. After getting batteries into the light finally, the light did not work. 9Geek said to return the unit and sent me a return label with the wrong address so can not ship it back, unless I pay for the shipping. Junk product with garbage service. Cheaper to cut my loses and throw this of .... out. A waste of time and money. I expect a "very sorry for your negative experience" email .... save it 9Geek and Nitecore. You need to clean house from within and can poor vendors. One star .. too much.

Perfectly designed for its function. Excellent tool for applying various light levels to gemstones and semi precious stones. Helps to identify Jade, chalcedony and other translucent gemstones. Also good for examining gem stones for fractures and inclusions.

I was so excited to receive this gem light. When it arrived without batteries, I had to go to a few different stores to find the lithium batteries. This light doesn't take the usual AA, A... When I finally found a package of the 123 size (@Walmart), I couldn't get them to go into the light cavity the usual way. I had to Google if there were different-sized lithiums of the same size number. As I was about to contact Amazon for a refund, I inadvertently found a comment about this exact gem light in an online gemology forum. The responder described how you must place the batteries in from the top under the light rather than the typical style where you unscrew the bottom, and slide the batteries in from the bottom. Okay, unusual-sized battery problem solved, but then I started to use the light checking out the rocks I had been waiting to grade, and I couldn't keep the light on for more than 5 minutes or the shaft would get dangerously hot to the touch. So, now I am contacting Amazon about a return, and without the original packaging. I am so disappointed that I allowed this purchase to take up so much of my time and energy, only to discover that it isn't nearly the quality I had expected.
