No noise, speed, or heat issues, still photography storage
One week review. Have additional GRaid drives with no problems over years which made me go to Drives. Decided I would add non raid drives to another system. Doing still photography about 1Tb+ per year and using LR and PS. Use for photo storage only. Purchased Thunderbolt for enterprise quality and daisy chain capability. Speed is adequate and can process from drive with "maybe" minimal lag - so far not enough to move a current process file to SSD internal which is option on my system. No noise issue and does not run too hot. Noise is less than my raid drives. Purchased a cheaper USB C same size Drive for direct clone backup of TB drive. This drive is less speed dependent and I connect to USB port saving my other TB port. Very pleased with system. Non TB same width and height but lengh less, nevertheless stacks well.

Reliable. Don’t hesitate. Get one.
I was skeptical but I’m very pleased after a couple months. The thunderbolt is great. It did require an adapter and I opted for a 6’ cable which adds @ 100$ cost but I can now free up 2 USB ports with the included 2nd port on the hard drive. Because I have 2 thundebolt displays I can now reach the 5’ from my primary faster i7 cpu and the 2nd monitor attached to an i5 which won’t play 4K smoothly. I used the back of the displays 2nd USB port to accommodate that. The drive has performed flawlessly. I have an ssd drive on the hard drives 2nd thunderbolt/usb port.I was having odd random connectivity issue with my previous western digital drive. I have had zero issues with this drive. I wish it was as fast as an ssd but I never notice any issue unless the drive is resting and I see a spinning icon and a brief pause as it kicks in. Actually working with HD audio and graphics seems virtually as fast as an SSD once the drive is woke.Unless you are doing video work and have huge files think 2 of these would serve most folks better than the raid drive which I think only gets you 14 Tb for around the same price as 2 of these 14 Tb drives. The money is generally better put into more space vs the speed increase a raid might achieve. Raid drives have come a long way but are still notorious for failing.I add 2 Tb usb Ssd drives as I can afford for vsts and samples I want to be available immediately and try to keep general storage stuff on these drives so speed is less of an issue.Mine haven’t got noticeably hot. There’s is a slight click when it’s working. It’s not an issue unless you’re recording vocals. The drive would need to be moved away from the microphone.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE drive
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE drive.I could kick myself for buying another G-DRIVE. These stupid drives always fall asleep and take forever to come aliveLACIE makes the best drives if you're editing.FURIOUS that G-Drive is still in business.

Mac / Time Machine Ready, Fast Data Transfer with USB-3
So far, so good. Love that it's formatted for Mac, and it uses the USB-C port for really quick data transfer. Very easy to set up, and ready for Time Machine on the Mac. Also comes with all the necessary cords, so that's a big plus. Very happy with this purchase.*Update - Still going strong November 2020. Great external hard drive!!*

Large capacity drive.
The model that arrived was not the model pictured in the offer. I assume it is newer. So far so good as it transferred 8 TB’s pretty quickly. The fan is slightly noisy but not a deal breaker. Solid drive.

My hard drive works perfect.
You can always depend on a G Drive, it’s fast and exactly what you need to do video editing. This one here is secondhand and works perfect. No complaints at all.

Love this!
This is a great external hard drive. I'm a photographer and extra storage space is so critical! This is a perfect solution! It makes a quiet click sound when it's in use. It's working great for me and is easy to transport if I want to work somewhere other than my office. Great Product!

Plug and Play
I've used G-Drives for years with no issues at all. I've probably migrated data over 10-15 years and several computers using these drives for support. I wish the G-folks would put more ports on lower cost drives.... but, oh well. This one hooked up to my brand new Mac in about 10 minutes and backed up all my data in no time at all. (esp. the stuff I had transferred from previous drives since you can either load your Mac of just back chain). The Cloud may be the future but it's still nice to have a direct, hands-on, back up as well.
