Everything about it is great: the story, the characters and the art. The book is about a pre-teen girl navigating her family situation, her own existence, art and crime against the backdrop of a mysterious murder. If you are a comic reader, this comic is about you, but it is unlike any comic you have read before. I did not think I would relate so much to a young brown queer girl, as a grown ass cis white man. It took me a minute to get into the first book and I had to start it twice, on accounts of it being so different from what I am used to. So, do yourself a favor: get the first book and commit to the first 20 pages. You'll be back for the second book. Review: Favorite series - Fantastic story and art work

Gorgeous, if Lacking
I thought the first volume was revelatory --in terms if imagination, in terms of visuals, in terms of form. The second volume reveals some flaws--namely, a story stretched as thin as the notebook paper it's printed on. The art is still mostly wonderful (sometimes breathtaking), but the narrative momentum really seems to have stalled.

My favorite graphic novel, maybe yours too!
Waited for years for this book to come out! Read the first one during undergrad for a class and never really read graphic novels before then. I got this because it was book two. Did not disappoint! The execution of bringing this book to life is amazing and one of a kind.

A thrilling story and a lot of heartbreak.
If you've read the first one, you know that there were a LOT of unanswered questions. This answers some and complicates others, and from start to finish, you'll be hooked. There are plenty of ups and downs, and the characters you felt so much for before are still going through them. It's beautiful, it's well-written, and it's worth every penny.

There is no disappointment to be found between these gorgeous pages!
The Godfather Two of Graphic Novels. In case you don't get the reference, its one of the rare case where the sequel might actually be better than the original. The Godfather 1&2 were movies and these are graphic novels. Comics are historically prone to numeric continuation and a sequel should not have been surprising. When it first arrived, I felt My Favorite thing is monsters was a singular work, I stand corrected. I also stand by my opinion! Buy them both. (or buy all four if you are unfamiliar with the Godfathers by those two too!) also buy one of those cool four color pens for any young kid with a desire to draw, who knows? You might inspire the next Emil Ferris. If that works, buy some kid a two ton hunk of marble because you might inspire the next Michealangelo. And if that works…

so amazing
I’ve never gotten goosebumps from reading a novel, but this book gave me a cold case of the goosebumps by the end. I was sad that it was over, but happy that I had experienced it. What an AMAZING piece of Art this was! One of the very, very best, and one that 8 year-old me would’ve never imagined, having been lovingly enveloped myself in the loving embrace of the pages of Creepy, Eerie, and Famous Monsters. I have found my pack once again.
