Best TN panel monitor I have ever used
I wanted a 144 hz for quite some time, but was put off that all of the true 144hz that did not require overclocking of the panel were TN panels. I started off with an Asus VG248QE as it looked to be reasonably priced. I got a model with a stuck green pixel in the dead center as well as a cheap feeling monitor with some major backlight uniformity issues. I have recently had quite a bit of issues with multiple Asus monitors coming with dead pixels or damaged backlight layers (bright spots) at work. So instead of discounting it as a one off (and many other reviews saying the Asus had dead or stuck pixels), I decided to go with a different brand. So this lead some searching and I came across the BenQ XL2430T as it had only one bad review from someone whose intelligence I question. Usually all glowing reviews hide something but not in this case. I will be comparing some of this to the Asus I mentioned earlier. The first thing I noticed is how heavy the box was and after opening it I noticed most of the weight was in the high quality stand. The stand is mostly metal and very solid. The base is combination of plastic and metal but feels very nice. Assembly is super easy and well thought out with locking tabs and a thumb screw. The DVI cable is already attached to the monitoring and I assume this is what BenQ wants you to use. I would like to see BenQ not have this already attached as I can see this as a potential damage point while removing the monitor from the box, though it seems like packaging effort was made to minimize this or strain on the connector. Height adjustment and pivot look to be well implemented and it just feels like a quality product unlike what Asus has been pushing out on monitors recently. That said, the Asus 144 hz monitor was quite a bit less in price, but I think I will pay the extra from now on for a better device. A dust cover was included and that was awesome. The dust cover is made from PVC so it had that bad smell of PVC but it soon off gassed and stopped smelling bad. The stand also has a nice solid metal carrying handle that the dust cover has a cutout for. One of the neat features is the little wired remote pod that lets you control the menu from a better viewing distance so you can get everything correct from the place you will be sitting (as long as it is normal desk distance to the monitor). Now to change the windows refresh rate to 144hz. This is very important before you start messing with the setting. The gamma and contrast seem to be tied to refresh rate. Set the monitor at the refresh rate you intend to use it at before messing with the settings. The monitor is extremely bright out of the box and the gamma is a bit off, changing some settings helped this. I used the standard setting and changed the following settings:Brightness: 40Contrast: 52Gamma: 5Sharpness: 5Color temp in user mode: Red: 99, Green: 100, Blue: 97Do not use the black equalizer as it just makes things look bad. I turned on the low blue setting to 2. Do not change the vibrancy setting as it limits how many colors are displayed in a gradient and does a nasty bit of color crush. I use quite a bit of IPS monitors at work and one my other rigs and I have to say that this with the settings mentioned looks very good and IPS close. You get worse viewing angles by a long shot but you also get better blacks. After careful inspection of the LCD I noticed no backlight bleed, dead pixels, backlight uniformity issues, or stuck pixels. The refresh rate makes games more enjoyable for me and the response time makes for no noticeable ghosting. I think I just found the perfect 24 inch TN panel monitor. It is only a 6bit panel with differing, but the colors seem pretty good and on par with some 6bit ips panels I have used (yes the cheap ips panels are usually only 6bit). Though you get narrow viewing angles compared to those cheaper ips panels. The refresh rate sure makes up for any of the viewing angle shortcomings for gaming. In the end I would recommend this panel for people wanting to game at 120 or 144hz. I cannot think of any negatives and feel the price justifies the construction and quality control even given that the panel is found in cheaper options.

Best monitor for PS4!
Just bought this monitor for my PS4 to replace my Playstation 3D Display and I must say that it was worth every penny! That 1ms and low input lag makes a HUGE difference in gameplay (at least it did for me) I was so surprised how much it effected my gameplay, before my KD was 0.97 on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, with just a few games, it jumped to 1.03 and it still continues to climb. Every game I played (so far) I was getting between 2.50 to 3.00 KD's. The screens smoothness and fast response is so darn good that I was able to react the moment someone came in my line of sight which I was never able to do with other TVs/monitors, its definitely something you would have to see with your own eyes because its like this monitor lets you react faster than other people; making them feel like they're the ones with slow reaction time. So if your having trouble getting some kills on COD, it may not be you, it could be that your TV/monitor could have too much input lag and low response times which could really effect your performance like it did to me. This was my own experience so I can't say this monitor will do the same for everyone else but I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this monitor for consoles because before I owned this monitor, I use to really suck on COD but things are different now. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. My next purchase is those CQC FPS Freeks.Update 9/10/15I been messing with the monitor's setting for quite a few days to get the perfect calibration and now I finally reached it. I'm going to share with all of you my settings specifically to calibrate your BenQ monitor so that you can have accurate colors as well as excellent brightness and contrast levels while gaming on your PS4.BenQ Monitor Calibration for PS4:Game Settings Blur Reduction [Off] Black eQualizer [1] Color Vibrance [9] Low Blue Light [0] Instant Mode [On] Auto Game Mode [Off]Picture Picture Mode [Standard] Brightness [100] Contrast [40] Sharpness [8] Gamma [5] Color Temperature [Normal] AMA [High] DynamicContrast [0]Display Display Mode [Full] HDMI RGB PC Range [RGB {0~255}] Overscan [Off]System > Other Settings Resolution Notice [On] -Optional- Buzzer [Off] -Optional- Input Auto Switch [On] -Recommended- Auto Pivot Sensor [Off] -Optional- (Recommended to [On] if PC connected) Auto Power [Off] -Optional- LED Indicator [Medium] -Recommended- DDC/CI [Off] -Optional- (Recommended to [On] if PC connected)PS4 Console Settings:Settings > Sound and Screen > Video Output Settings Resolution [1080p] RGB Range [Full] Deep Color Output [Automatic] Display Area Settings [Enlarge the screen until Enlarge is greyed out; at maximum]

Adore this monitor but, beware you'll need to know your way around display calibration
OK, so this monitor would be hard for me to blindly recommend to someone however, I do absolutely love it myself. Why? Well, out of the box the picture quality isn't very good IMO. As someone who calibrates every display in my house, I first tried to calibrate this monitor using a blu ray calibration disk that I use on my televisions however, even that didn't really clean up the display to a level that made me happy. I then connected a Spyder display calibrator and had it do the calibration and it really made the monitor come to life. In the end, the black levels aren't as rich as you'd see on say a Samsung display but, the image is still really really great. Now factor that into the 1MS 144Hz response you get from this display and it's pure gaming bliss. I've personally compared 4K 60Hz (highest refresh you can get right now in 4K) displays to 1080/1440p 144Hz displays and while my eyes don't really appreciate the resolution jump (esp in displays less than 40") I most certainly appreciate 144 FPS in games. I didn't think the human eye could see 144 FPS, and kinda still don't think you consciously can, I certainly know it feels different playing a game at 144. I mean it feels absolutely incredible!

Hate benQ
This is so amazing! What a great Christmas present! As a wife, I make it my duty to painstakingly research every little thing possible to improve my husbands cs:go game, and let me tell you this has done wonders for him. He sees everything! He's amazing! The many settings! The ports on the side! Its so clean, looks so neat! Love the adjustability! Its so clear. No dead pixels, no ghosting and whatever else stupid people complain about. He no longer complains about these things (hallelujah!). In fact, all he does is play cs:go now. I never see him. I never hear him. If I do hear him he is yelling at the game or telling me about about his ninja difuse or all the hackers or giving me a play by play. Honestly, I don't Care. My four year old runs around yelling, "why aren't you guys on b?" Thanks benQ for ruining my life, but ultimately improving my husbands. The 144 hz is so worth it. I only wish I made him as happy as this monitor and his stupid flick shots. On to review the zowie fk1 mouse.
