Whenever I'm out and there is someone near me who is sniffling, sneezing, wheezing, hacking, coughing, or just looks like death warmed over, I take a 50,000 IU as soon as I get home. I take it prophylacticly. If I feel a bit of a sore throat, I also take one. I (and my hubby) haven't had a cold or flu in almost 4 years (since learning about Vit D3). We also take 5,000 IU daily. Although we live in Florida, we still don't get enough sunlight on our skin to make the amount of D3 we need. Taking supplemental D3 (Cholecalciferol) is not toxic like the prescription D2 is (Ergocalciferol). Be sure you get your levels checked and are not deficient. Most people are. BTW, it's best to keep your levels over 50. The levels on the blood test are to prevent disease, not optimal health. (I try to keep my levels over 80-100, but that's just me.) BTW, babies and children are being diagnosed as being abuse when in actuality they have healing rickets. Be sure you have your children's blood levels drawn and give them the appropriate supplement. Nursing mothers should consider taking a supplement to ensure adequate Vitamin D3 in their milk. Pediatricians frequently say Vit D3 is rare, then they say rickets are rare, but that's not true, especially in the northern climates. Do your research. Don't believe anything I or anyone else posts in these reviews. Most of us are not doctors, none of us know you or your situation. But the best defense is knowledge, which you get by researching things for yourself. (Antacids, like tums, will make you deficient, as well as having a high BMI, and a lot of other things. Tums are calcium carbonate and will cause rickets.)See "Dr. Mercola interviews Dr. Ayoub About Infantile Rickets" on youtube to learn more about what looks like child abuse and shaken baby syndrome, but is actually a vitamin d3 deficiency.

Awesome product with great results that were proven through multiple blood lab tests. Take one a day for 7-days, ten just take once a week and your D3 levels will be fantastic! One important note, when taking this supplement always take it with a little bit of healthy fats. So eat some peanut butter, eggs, or omega-3 fatty acids. It will absorb much better into your system.

I had my Vitamin D levels tested and I was very low, only 18 ng/mL. So, my doctor put me on a Vitamin D2 regimen (one pill every week for 8 weeks and then 1 every two weeks). I had my level retested and it only raised to 25 ng/mL. I thought it was going to be much higher! I had done some research on Vitamin D as I was taking the D2 and discovered that many people recommended D3 instead. So, when I had my level retested and it was still low, I asked about D3, because I knew I'd need to keep taking Vitamin D. In turns out that my doctor also takes D3 and the woman I talked to on the phone (not sure if she was a receptionist or nurse) recommended BioTech D3-50 and that my doctor takes it as well and buys it on Amazon. I thought it was strange that he would write me a prescription for D2 when he takes D3! It cost me $18 dollars for 10 D2 pills when I could have bought 100 D3 for the same price! So strange and really glad I did my research and questioned the pills I was taking. I'm going to be taking these capsules twice a month now for a few months and then get my levels retested. The pills are small and super easy to swallow. It's great that I can take them so infrequently. I just set a reminder on my phone and forget about it. I highly recommend these.

These are my favorite Vitamin D3. I don't get outdoors enough, and after being diagnosed with osteopenia then osteoporosis over a decade ago I added them to my vitamin and supplements regimen, taking 2/week divided, along with 5mg Vitamin K2. I've had a few nasty falls since including slipping backwards last year on a concrete patio covered with wet algae and falling right onto the coccyx, while wearing a midi blue jean skirt! The skirt suffered more than I did--although my tailbone was sore for a few months that time. But no broken bones or any need to go to the doctor. So I'm persuaded these D3 supps (along with eating well, and getting enough protein and extra vitamin C, etc.), are helping to keep my bones flexible. And after not having a DEXA bone scan for over 7 years, one a couple months ago showed minimal to no further bone loss!
