Works well but proves I have a garden with no night time activity!
I was very interested to see what happens in my garden at night, so I thought I’d take a look at one of the many trail cameras on the market, a product until relatively recently would have cost in the region of £200. So when these lower cost options arrived I thought it was time to take the plunge. This is a relatively simple to operate video and stills camera with IR and motion detection functions. It’s designed to blend in with the background with a semi camouflage appearance. It has a tripod mount screw thread on the bottom and you can even use a small padlock (not supplied) to stop someone opening it, or secure it with steel rope to a tree.Included in the box areThe camera (with attached tree mount)Securing StrapWall MountUSB CableInstruction ManualIt has a comprehensive but easy to use menu system, and can run off either 4 AA, 8AA or an external power source. It records to full size SD cards (which is a bit unusual these days) and can also be connected via USB to be used as a card reader. It can be set up to record stills, video (with audio) or a combination of the 2. It can also be used as a time lapse stills camera and you can also schedule it’s operation window, so that it only operates at night for example. You can record and burn in the time, date and temperature, a handy addition.I’ve been using it with good quality low discharge rechargeable batteries (4AAs) and it works well. I’ve been using it in the middle of winter in the rain and it’s held up well, no water ingression and no detrimental effect on performance although the addition of Rain-X or similar product would help keep the rain off the lens. It’s been rigged and working now for over a week on the same set of batteries, although if the activity in your garden is high you’ll probably need the additional 4 AAs.As someone else has pointed out the musical tune this generates when powering on and off is unnecessary and a little annoying. I also find that the night IR illumination has a very pronounced hot spot especially when recording video as the lens angle is wider than that for the stills. I find that the camera is very sensitive to movement it will often trigger when nothing is in the stills frame but is captured at the very edge of the video recording. After having this in place for a few days I have to say that I’m disappointed to see that nothing seems to happen in my garden at night, how boring. Lots of birds come to feed in the daytime however. Time to rig it in my brother’s garden, he has many more night time visitors. However the fact that you can now capture this activity at this price point is great.Overall it's great to see the price of these cameras has come down considerably in recent years, they're probably not going to win you any photography awards but it gives you a window to a world previously unseen.

Less than three years lifespan- i wouldn’t bother if I where you if it becomes available again
It started off well and then gave up the ghost. No obvious customer care site to contact so looks like they are happy to take the money and run. Can anyone recommend a good trail cam ?

Adequate only and doesnt last long
Picture quality adequate but this lasted only about 3 months in the garden. Clearly listed as waterproof but ours has substantial water ingress into the camera and the screen which means it is, effectively, now useless.I am seeing if drying indoors for a few days will rescue it but very disappointed this appears to have been robust enough to last only a few weeks

BUDGET CAMERA WITH GOOD PERFORMANCE
The media could not be loaded. *Review from someone who uses game cameras almost every day*I was initially worried about the lack of LED lights on this camera compared to all my other game cams but it performed just as well as more expensive cameras.....and better than many around the same price.Battery life is good and picture quality is as expected from a 12mp camera during day and acceptable for night pictures.Video quality is fine but not 1080 - don't worry about that though as none of the sub-£100 cameras I own seem to be a full 1080 quality.Menu and features are easily accessed and the overall construction of the camera is very good - basically it performs exactly how it should perform and probably a bit better than it deserves to given the cost.I would prefer the camera not to have the tree brace on the back as I generally set cameras into a bank side, in wood piles or among large rocks but it is a useful feature for anyone who may find it difficult to set a camera properly. The brace does level up the camera well on a tree trunk.I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone wanting a decent, reliable trail camera for filming wildlife.Check out the in-depth review video which contains some wildlife pictures and videos taken by this camera toward the end of the video. Thanks for reading / watching.

Great for catching what the foxes get up to!
I've had foxes in my garden for some time now but have never been able to catch more than a brief glance of them. Using this camera I have been able to catch them playing in my garden at night and see exactly what they get up to, I'm very surprised how playful they are.On to the camera, its sturdy, well made superior build quality that is certainly waterproof. Although it is larger than I expected it blends well into an outdoor scene and at times can be very difficulty to spot, if you are using this in a large outdoor area make sure you know exactly where it is placed or you may find it hard to locate. The camera comes with a few different mounting options that can be adapted to many conditions but I find the easiest a simple tree wrap using the strap. The camera takes 8 AA batteries (which are not included) and seems to give a very long standby life.Full HD video quality with a respectable IR range. Note that the camera also requires an SD card to record the video clips, I'm using a 16GB card which seems to give a good capacity but then that will depend on how frequently it records.Although focused on nature I see no reason why this couldn't be used for home security. All in all a great camera I'm sure will last years to come.
