Works great in reducing and filtering pm2.5! The RFID chip indeed reports a lifetime of 6 months, but at least for my "Smartmi" device you can just ignore an "expired" filter if it's still filtering fine and not smelling funny. The lifetime really depends on your situation (smoke, other pm2.5), not on what the device tells you. It might be longer, it might be shorter. It's a guideline.
